Resume Critique - Don't come from a finance background at a semi-target

Hey Everyone,

I've posted my resume and I invite you to constructively critique it. I have followed the template on M&I and managed to keep it to a page. Please keep in mind that I don't come from a finance background and I'm at a "semi-target" (if there is such a thing) school. I have experience in doing research for 2 investment funds at school but nothing close to a FT position.

I appreciate any comments/advice.

some of your bullets have periods at the end and some don't.

keep it consistent.

i suggest eliminating all periods at the end of bullets.

Quick comments -

Put the ER internships above your manager position (reverse chronological order) and expand those sections while making the section on your manager position smaller since I'm assuming you want to do ER. For instance "Trained employees and evaluated job performance." is a throwaway line. You focus on results in this section which is good, so keep that in the reduced description.

I'd use "Toronto, Ontario" as your location. If the interviewer doesn't know that Toronto is in Canada then you don't want to work there anyways!

Equity research positions - what is your title? Are you an intern? If so, put "Intern, Equity Research" and italicize it.

Add months to the dates for your positions and italicize the dates.

Put "Financial Accounting, Financial Economics, International Economics, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Econometrics" - lead with the most relevant coursework for the position.

As Applelover said no periods at the end of your bullets.

CFA - state when you are sitting for the exam "CFA Level I Candidate (June 2011)"

Activities - "University of Toronto Student' Union" Student's Union? Students' Union?

Interests - take out the first two (You're an econ major so it's a given that you like economic theory and you have ER internships so I know you like investment literature. Add another random interest outside of Cricket and Soccer.

Anyways, those are my comments. Take my advice at your own risk.
