Booth Part-Time VS McCombs Full-Time

I know that for career switchers full-time is the way to go but is the Booth name so strong that it can overcome the expected obstacles of the Part-time MBA recruiting process?

In the long-run, there is no doubt that the Booth MBA will stand out much more than McCombs but are the short-term pitfalls worth it?

I know McCombs has an awesome full-time program, the VC industry is amazing in Austin for internships and McCombs places nicely into PE and VC in Texas from my understanding...but then again, the Booth name is so strong all across the country..

I plan on applying to McCombs but should I also give the Booth PT a shot?

In this case, both are targets though.

You might not be saying that 3 - 5 years from now. I kid though, I sincerely don't know.

I guess you need to evaluate what your background is and how easily you could transition to VC/PE as is. If the hurdle isn't that high (you already have IBD & buyside experience) McComb might be worth it. If you got nothing probably Booth.

(Why not apply to Booth FT?)

Cause it's a longshot at best and I don't want to bug all my recommenders with so many applications. My top of the shelf choice is Columbia and safety school is Rice.

The reason I was asking about UT-A and UC was because they both are stellar in Energy (in the case of UC, it's stellar in everything basically). If I somehow get into Columbia then I'm not even sure I'd come back to Houston because Columbia really isn't that strong down here... For Booth, I'd be willing to travel to Chicago from Houston every weekend (I've heard that there are a good # of Part-timers at Booth that fly in from Houston).

I just recently took NYU off my list and added Booth-PT.

issue is you dont have VC/PE goign IN to school do u?

Nope, I sure don't.

Check this out though...http://venturefellows.org/overview

I just want the most options possible, being at McCombs will do that for me as far as Energy is concerned. Booth-PT is a semi-bitch move since I'll get the brand without getting in via full-time admission but this way I can work and get the Booth brand name at my own pace..
