Help !

Hi I'm planning to attend one of the target schools in UK and I have no prior experience of working in finance sector. I got the necessary technical and valuation skills but again zero experience.

Is it possible to get an analyst job in IBD as an international student ? Also, is it compulsory to undertake summer analyst internship before getting an analyst job (bc I heard its compulsory for employees with no experience in this sector) ? If yes then how will I complete my summer analyst internship if my Visa only allows me 20 hours work time per week in UK ?  is there any other way of breaking into IBD other than summer internships? And what about after completing Masters, How can I get an analyst job ? I just need to be really sure if there's a way to get into it or l'll just choose Ms accounting and finance course other than Ms Finance. Because l'm a qualified ACCA as well. Also I'm in early 20s (if age is a factor here)

You'll get more answers if your question is clearer.

What target school did you get accepted to? What's the program? What are your other stats (undergrad school, GPA, work exp, etc...).

Simply put, if you attend a target school for a masters in the UK, there is a chance of getting an IB job but it depends on the school, program, your background as well as performance during the program and ability to network.

I'll goto Warwick but I got zero work experience in finance and even if I land a summer internship how will I work if my Visa only allows me to work 20 hours a week

Okay I know that. I was planning to do summer internships while studying for the masters. Anyways, Thanks alot. Please check dm.

So, 1) your communication / English is in need of enhancement and 2) you want to work 20 hours a week while 3) recruiting for very competitive London IB roles during your time at Warwick?

I just don't see it working out. It's all way too much. I suggest you not working during your school year and instead acing your classes, focusing on your technical interview prep and getting a solid post-masters job. Your time is definitely better spent elsewhere vs a 20 hour a week in-school internship. You risk doing too much and accomplishing none of it. I would even suggest doing CFA I in December as it would overlap w/ your studies / interview prep and enhance your CV.

Look buddy I’m going to be frank because it’ll help you in the long term. You seem to have issues communicating your points across, having looked at this thread. That’s going to be the major obstacle you have to overcome before you even think about visa eligibility etc, as finance is largely presentation-based. If it’s IB you want, you’re going to have a hard time in interviews if you can’t be more fluent with your thoughts.
