Online chances calculator by vocaz

Hey guys,

Anyone tried the online MBA chances calculator on vocaz website? I tried it and got a 60, which is a stretch at all the schools I'm considering... very disappointing. Do you think it is credible? do you know a similar tool?

By the way, i agree there is no one right formula, but i like the fact that this formula gives you some indication regarding the many factors that impact your admission chances, things you should consider and try to improve, or even things that you have but never thought to emphasize.

I tried the tool, too. It's a bit pessimistic but I still think this tool is useful. It made me realize that certain aspects are also helpful like sports, community works and the likes.

Here's the link: http://www.vocaz.com/ClientInfo/ChancesIndication27985.htm

It's an interesting tool, both in terms of the actual score and seeing what unexpected factors these guys think might affect your chances. Use it as one data point among many, not as a primary decision-making tool.

In my case, I was waitlisted and ultimately admitted at one stretch (+6) school, withdrew from the waitlist at another (+7), admitted to a competitive (+1) school, and dinged w/o interview at one that should have been a low safety. So, accurate in 3 of 4 cases.

The tool was indeed interesting. I tried myself taking the quiz and I appreciate categories which deal with participation in the community, school activities and the likes. My score, however, was a bit low but I believe I will do well with my GMAT.

Is this website really significant for candidates of MBA programs? I really don’t want to rely on the scores (mine was a bit low) of the test. Are there any companies that offer the same services?

MBA Consulting Companies can help you with your application process and things that goes with it. This chances calculator refers to Aringo butI believe they are not alone in this business.

I believe I need to strengthen my essay writing skills, I am more into algebra and not so much with grammar and the English language. Could this be a problem with my desire to go to Yale for my second course?

Essays are vital in getting in to chosen schools for MBA courses. Make sure you have prepared prior to your application. What is your gmat score by the way?

Would it be possible for me to enter Wharton with my 620 gmat score? Or HBS? I am considering a retake since I believe my score is too low for those two. I need some pieces of advice for this.

Depends on your profile. If you are a professional sports player (NFL, NBA), olympian, or son of a VERY important person, then you have a chance. Otherwise I don't think its worth it to apply.

I took the online calculator test and got a 57. Glad I didn't think too much into this at the time of applying, because I got into schools 10 points above me.

Hi delP! Make a research on the schools you desire to go to for you to figure out which one is the best for you.

Hi delP! Make a research on the schools you desire to go to for you to figure out which one is the best for you.

Thanks Cassy. I'm down to two schools to choose from. :)

Hi. Have you chosen a school already? I believe it depends on your priorities or things you wanted to consider. Do you want to study outside or within your country? Get some reviews about the schools you're interested in then you might be able to weigh things and choose the right one for you.

I saw images of MBA consultants at Aringo website, all from different MBA Schools. In case I want to be accepted in Tuck, will I be assisted by a Tuck MBA Graduate too?

Hey Cassy, not my intentions to click on the monkey shit icon. Apology for that. Anyways, what about Maastricht School of Management? Want to be accepted there soon?

Another thing, are there MBA schools that specializes on graduates of a specific field in college like engineering or arts?

I wonder how far does MBA scholarships go. Do they shoulder allowances and lodging in case you study outside your country?

Hey guys, newbie here. I tried the said chances calculator and my score is 66.4334. How would I interpret this?

How can one get an MBA scholarship? Getting an MBA course is not all about interest in business and time management but more of an expensive move to boost one's credentials. Not everyone can afford the program but perhaps getting a scholarship is the best solution.

Hey guys! What's new with the chances calculator? I tried it once again and got a better score. More than a year ago, I only scored from 64-70. How are you guys doing?

Thanks for sharing. The tool then is somehow useful, being able to show a score that's close enough to admission consultants' evaluation.

Interesting - anyone ever got a good score and got into a corresponding program?

I'm talking about liquid. Rich enough to have your own jet. Rich enough not to waste time. Fifty, a hundred million dollars, buddy. A player. Or nothing. See my Blog & AMA

Who else tried the tool among you guys? I guess this is really a perfect guiding tool in order to review your credentials.

It's far from perfect. Very far.

It's "good enough".

I'd go with this plus a few 30 minute trials with admissions consultants to get a feel for where you should apply.
