Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's not too late to start preparing for the S&T (Sales and Trading) recruitment cycle for the summer of 2025. Here are some steps you can take to position yourself better:

  1. Networking: Start networking with people who work in S&T at the firms you're interested in. Building relationships can help you get insights and potentially referrals.
  2. Research: Understand the typical recruitment timeline and process for S&T roles at different firms. This will help you stay ahead of deadlines.
  3. Skill Development: Focus on developing relevant skills and knowledge. This could include financial modeling, market analysis, and staying updated with current market trends.
  4. Resume Building: Ensure your resume highlights any relevant experience, even if it's not directly related to S&T. Emphasize transferable skills and any finance-related coursework or projects.

If you need more specific advice or resources, you might find useful threads on WSO forums.

Bit of a rant, but insane that this is a question you have to ask now days. When I interned summer of 2016 I didn't even know what investment banking was until the fall of 2015 and got an offer for the summer like 2 months later in December. The idea that people now need to know this is something they want to pursue by their sophomore year (or at least so I hear) is just insane to me.

My advice would be twofold, though take worth a grain of salt as I've been out of the intern recruiting game for a while:

  1. Keep your eyes on the linkedin job board, things actually do pop up there and while it may be a longshot to just apply online and have your resume pulled out of the stack, you may get lucky and find something that at least helps you target your efforts.
  2. Find people who recently graduated from wherever you are in school and try and talk to them (or other connections if you grew up in CT or something). If you're lucky enough to be at a target school with a good alumni network this can be incredibly helpful. I went to ND back in the day and am only in the industry today bc ND alums decided I was worth helping.
