2018 FT/Off-cycle London Recruiting Timeline Megathread
UPDATED AS OF 10/01/2018
Title says it all - the 2018 FT IB mainly covers the US schools so I thought I'd start one for London ones.
BBs:

JPM: Open - received email saying that my application was under consideration now lol
MS: Closed (early bird closed 31st July 2017, someone has said that recruiting is over, OFF-CYCLE/SA News: Seems like last AC is this Sat, if they don't find enough candidates, they'll open another one)
DB: Open, someone has an offer
CS: Closed - apps have been reviewed (but post submission it says that they'll only review in November???)
UBS: Open (rejected for FT post video interview already)
Barclays: Full, but apparently opened their FT apps (rejected for FT post second online test already)
Citi: Open (someone's been rejected for Off-cycle already, already interviewing for FT (IBD and CMO (AC)) and off-cycle NEW (CMO's done, IBD apps still under consideration but head count is mid-high single digits)
Wells Fargo: M&A analyst was available but now it's gone
EBs:
Moelis: Open (Online tests handed out), First Rounds 20th Oct, Final Rounds week of 30th Oct

Houlihan Lokey: Open? summers + off-cycles

HSBC: No FT this year -> need to apply for internship (off-cycle) (did test on the 6th, received pass on the 20th, still under consideration (October 16th?????), 1st AC completed, offers are out)
DC Advisory: Closed (1st Rounds done, 2nd rounds done, AC done)
RBS
Robert W. Biard: N/A
Nomura: Open (ACs are on going as of 11/10/2017)
BNP: Closed
Soc Gen: No info
Natixis: Opens in April
Can anyone confirm DB, CS, Lazard and Evercore do not have an off-cycle programme?
For CS, I know there is the Autumn analyst programme, but it starts in a couple of weeks and recruiting has been over for almost a year, so it is not really an off-cycle.
CS has both Autumn and Off-cycle as stated on their website
Lazard explicitly says no to off-cycle
DB has but you must be in your penultimate year going onto a placement year
No idea about Evercore
Could you please point me towards the CS off cycle? All I can see is Summer, Autumn and Full Time. Thanks.
Anyone have a reply from GS or JPM yet?
Did anybody get a reply yet?
From who? I only have a reply from Lazard for FT - rejection post video interview
Anyone have a reply from PwP, PJT or Moelis?
Heard any interview activity for London IB grad at all?
Worried I might just be late / non-competitive as I haven't heard back regarding any human-led interviews haha
MS: no news at all. GS: no news at all. Citi: passed online test, waiting for interview invitation/rejection. Lazard: rejected after vireo interview.
Not gonna apply for other EBs as not from the target schools (ie Oxbridge/LSE)
Created new account to preserve anonymity. Here's what I know:
BBs: Goldman: if you didnt attend the networking event in August for current summer interns at other banks, don't expect to hear back. They're progressing with people from that event only, with only 2-3 spots to recruit for. JPM: begins in November, usually very few spots. MS: full, application opened and closed in July, recruited maybe 1-2. Others: higher chances, rolling basis.
EBs: Evercore: networking invites already out for shortlisted candidates. PWP: full from intern class conversion. PJT: full, whoever said non-rolling basis is simply wrong, think they converted 5 out of 6 interns, already poached a few from outside as well.
Best bets for those who do not have offers yet is to aim for MM and lower BB firms.
FT recruiting is extremely quick and competitive, as in the US. Expect to compete with candidates who already interned at multiple banks, with return offers. London is extremely competitive these days with fewer hiring needs and lower headcounts.
Thanks for the detailed response. Makes for a rather disheartening read but was expected to be honest. Full-time recruitment is never easy!
Thanks mate - sorry about the PJT thing - heard it from another forum.
What do the EBs look for? BB exp?
For Goldman - was there an event? Couldn't find it. I know Citi had one.
CS also doesn't really recruit FT right (most of them are from Intern conversions)
MS: You're referring to the early bird program right? Who did they fill up with?
Just to clarify
PJT rolling for FT. SA apps are indeed non-rolling, no one will be looking at them for a few more weeks. I think you read that on thestudentroom? Info on there is quite accurate.
Goldman event did take place, on a Tuesday of August, can't remember exactly which date though. A bunch of interns across the City came to meet GS people. There was an application for it and you had to be invited to attend.
CS I don't know for sure so won't comment. MS filled their spots already.
For a lot of banks, even though there is no current need, there is still an online posting so that they have a pool of CVs to look at in case someone rescinds their acceptances, which happens more than you can imagine.
EBs tend to recruit quite selectively too. Most of them are from target schools from my networking efforts. At the highest level EBs like PJT, Evercore, Lazard, Centerview, people usually have cross offers from BBs.
What anonymity lol
Well people can view your post history, can piece together pretty quickly from what you posted and what you know to find out. Best to tread on the safer side of things.
Mate, any updates from your side?
Rothschild seems to have handed out phone interviews
Jefferies has started screening and has handed out tests
Deleted
Man, I received Jefferies tests ages ago but haven't heard back. Received the tests a few days after applying.
Rothschild - no response from them, did the tests a long time ago as well, assuming a rejection there haha.
Evercore sent me an invite to attend a networking event two weeks ago but I was trapped at work. Is my chance gone now then? :/
Was this for graduate analyst for IB?
some say there's no bearing on whether you attended
Dartmouth's running the process again and they're kinda shit

Any applied to HSBC off-cycle? I'm still under consideration after doing the test on the 6th, receiving pass mark on the 20th....
As I can't do off-clycles I applied for their AM grad instead. Got the job stimulation test invite last week (which I believe is their new first round interview) and done it today. Hope it helps.
I just got an email from HSBC yesterday inviting for a phone interview in a couple days after having gotten the "minimum benchmark" email 2 weeks ago
Would recent graduates be considered for these roles?
yes
Do you know of any recent graduates that got into one of these programs? All the apps I am seeing state the person has to be in final 2 years. Thanks for your help.
Rejected from UBS CCS post video interview

Just to update this thread in case anyone has been following.
Got an offer from a BB. Deadline to sign is quite near and I don't think I can get anything better. Pretty sure GS / MS are done, unless someone reneges (who would?!). There has been at least 1 AC for JPM FT and offers have been given out as well.
An observation during this process for anyone currently recruiting FT or might be doing so in the future. For all BBs, since FT is structured into teams, if you're coming from outside the intern pool, expect poor group placement. Interns at good groups usually come back and if not, the slots go to high-performing previous interns at other groups. My group is quite bad considering exits / PE placements but nothing else you can do. JPM offers went out to Capital Markets, Real Estate, etc.
With EBs, all groups do very well, as they do not cover areas where they don't have extensive expertise. But to gain a spot, likely you have to be extremely qualified, as I've seen the top people ending up at these places, with cross-offers at other places.
MMs are where most of the positions are available. From my contact at Jefferies and RBC, a lot of interns did not get a return offer, and those who did, some decided not to come back so they have a large class to fill.
Best of luck!
Congrats mate - thanks for all your input and best of luck in the future. Hope you can stick around to give us more insight if you have nothing to do hahahaha.
For JPM, how does one get selected for the FT AC spot (or even progress to first round interviews?) You previously mentioned that the process doesn't start till Nov.
On a side note, can you take a look at my CV (if you have time of course) to see what I'm lacking? Would like some clarity on this matter.
Further insight into EB's - if you want to join them you'd have to do a summer analyst stint there (as you previously mentioned). I think Evercore, Lazard and Rothschild are the only EB, that hires FTs (maybe Centreview..?)
On a side note, looks like it's back to school for me
popping by MS's London event on the 12th to ask about the FT process, Goldman HR has said that they haven't even started considering yet...
Thanks. Regarding JPM, I was told November as well by HR but apparently Oxbridge gets different treatment. Sad truth.
CV wise, sure, happy to.
For EBs, I think you can see them for yourself possibly on LinkedIn and don't take my words for it. Before the summer internship this year, I went on LinkedIn and used my free premium trial to see the backgrounds of FT people at EBs. Moelis and PWP rarely hires outside the intern pool, almost every analysts there come from the internship. Evercore hires the most from other firms. Centerview has the usual 3-4 spots, HL (the good group, Restructuring) has literally 1 spot every year, sometimes they don't even hire. PJT is so unpredictable as it heavily depends on whether they managed to find extremely good interns the year before. Lazard and Rothschild have sizeable intakes.
Are this for FT starting in January?
No. June or July 2018
Anyone who's done Rothschild's grad programme first round face to face heard back yet?
Anyone any updates? Citi? etc
Full time applications:
Has anybody heard from UBS after video interview?
Heard from Jefferies after online test?
Evercore since dartmouth phonecall?
Moelis since online test invitation?
Or anything else.... someone hit him up!
Did you get an online test invite for Moelis in London? Did you get a first round?
Did online test on Sunday after getting invitation las week
How about you?
No answer from Evercore after the initial phonecall Moelis test invitation last week, no progress after PWP is full PJT full Centerview has their AC this week GS still on application received
I'm the same also.
Heard Evercore is converting/keeping a lot of interns into FT.
What's the more common practice between full conversion of SA class and part conversion + external hire. I heard that DB and Rothschild tend to convert 70% and hire the remaining externally.
I mean if they like the interns, most banks will want to retain interns. If they don’t offer or need more help, external.
I did hear apparently Evercore’s retention for this year was high.
Can confirm Evercore gave out offers to all but one SA and they've already had ACs for the few remaining FT spots
Why didn't they give it to that one SA - you got any dirt on that girl/guy?
Did anybody else do the RBC online tests? If so what was your feedback like. Private message me.
Let's keep the news coming boys and girls
I think if I don't hear back from Rothschild with a final round invite, it's pretty much done for me this year. Bit too late to receive more first round interview invite now, no?
no idea - I haven't received first round yet so I'm probably done
This may not be the right place to post, but I didn't want to open another thread. Has anyone applied to MS Networking Drinks for German Speakers? Heard back from them? or went to this event in the last years?
Anyone heard back from the Nomura superday last monday? I know the time slots said there were final rounds on both monday and thursday this week, but wondering of they might have made a decision before thursday/friday..
Mind if I ask what position this is for?
I have a Nomura 1st round for IB FT coming up in two weeks time, but I'm hearing about ACs having taken place. Thanks!
FT IBD analyst, there are 4 slots this week as well with 4 candidates per slot.
Think Evercore should let people know soon or by end of next week(or following week) maybe...heard they retained a lot of their interns. So good luck to everyone!
Any one going to a Goldman Firm wide presentation? e.g. UCL or LSE or Imperial? What's the registration process yet? If it says Event Closed, does it mean that I've been rejected?
BB offcycles anyone? I've not heard back from any offcycles I applied for (MS, BoA, Citi). What's the normal recruitment timeline for offcycles?? Thanks
For MS off-cycle, I got a first round last year in mid Nov. I know last ACs are in Jan (if I remember correctly)
Is everyone as dishearted as I am for FT roles?
as anybody heard from UBS after video interview?
Heard from Jefferies after online test?
Evercore since dartmouth phonecall?
Moelis since online test invitation?
Or anything else.... someone hit him up!
don't worry, I'm in a rut as well -> you got friends here.
Also, yes rejection from UBS, no to everything else.
Are you going to any events later this year?
No events
Was it the usual quick first round from Dartmouth?
I had a call with them for an MM last year. There was technicals too such as valuations stuff.
my MS early bird, JPM and GS (all for London) applications say it is 'received' and not under review yet. does this mean they wont get reviewed and no way i am even getting a first round? seriously guys wtf?! then what's the use of applying!? i have attended networking events that needed invites at all three firms for the past two years so i am so confused.
Same. My MS off cycle is under review but the FT one is received. They're probably full by now.
are we assuming they're full or do we actually know? has anyone had any contact with recruiters?
Not really sure what they were looking for in their early bird apps. I mean, most summer analyst positions start in End of June to early July right (correct me if I'm wrong), so those guys only have 4-6 weeks of experience. Not sure what they could write on their CVs.
Heard rejections should be given out of Evercore now.
yeah got one (FT)
Ugh...so the 90% retention was true....Great...
So any updates?????? Let's keep the news coming boys and girls
First rounds at Citi are this week for fulltime. DB will send out first round invites within 2 weeks.
Is that for IBD? Should we expect no further news if we don't have a phone interview?
heard someone has an AC at Citi for CMO.
I have a Citi CMO grad AC coming up. Unsure on IBD.
Jep IBD, specific group. Friend of mine had a first round yesterday for generalist IBD. No idea if they continue to send out invites, I would reach out to the grad recruiting team!
Hey, remember you saying you were in the Nomura process. Any chance you know how long they take to get back to you after the first round?
has anyone that has applied to GS/JPM/MS for FT have the status of their application change from received to 'in review'?
No change
is centerview still open?
Gleacher off cycle has closed, they filled all positions. Freshminds confirmed via email last week
updated thanks
Moelis FT last round interviews with MDs this week. Got first round invite 20th Oct.
MS Summer Analyst phone interview next week. Got first round invite 1st Nov.
Update: I know of friends with FT offers from DB, Nomura, GS and Rothschild .
When did your friend interview for GS?
In the last few weeks. Maybe 2/3 weeks ago?
It seems like they're full by now.
I believe Jefferies is closed , they already had AC for "core universities" and I believe today was AC for non-core universities.
When was the core uni one? Heard one happened on Sat
Oct 14 or Oct 21 was for core universities. And yes, non core was on Sat. (I was not there to avoid any potential question). So, I don't think so that Jefferies will have any other AC's.
Is it safe to assume that all IBD grads are full by now?
Not yet. CS still hasn't started (I think), and someone above posted that JPM is usually late to the party.
Citi's still recruiting to my knowledge but only 5-8 places for FT IBD (No idea for CMO)
No idea on other sorry
Thanks for the updates mate
Any news from Citi IBD?
Anything other updates? would like to keep this up to date. Thanks
Anyone heard from JPM/MS Off-Cycle?
I had a first-round for MS IBD off-cycle internship 1.5 weeks ago. Applied in early October.
Have they got back to you?
JPM has off-cycle roles?
William Blair is also recruiting off-cycle interns (they only hire analysts after an internship)
Anyone still waiting to hear back from Macquarie post AC
Long shot, but don't suppose anyone has any insights on the Nomura AC?
someone posted they had a Nomura AC - better off directly messaging them.
Anybody heard from the following:
MS ER, BAML ER, Barclays ER, JPM AM, GS IMD, Jefferies (Had a Phone Interview on 15th Nov), Citi IBD (FSG)
Had HSBC AC for AM (Rej) and got a DB AC for AM tomorrow :')
HSBC AM AC for grad? Can see they are still sending out job simulator invites :/ completed mine a month ago and still no news There is an AM thread on TSR and no one seems to have heard back for HSBC AM grad AC yet
This is summer surely? DB AM diddn't hire for grad, and afaik the recruiter for HSBC said they're screening AM grad in december
RBC emailed saying IBD grad is full.
.
From what a recruiter told me, off-cycle positions are only open for Jan-Jun period.
Anyone got a reply from Citi FT yet?
Hello everybody,
I have been invited to the psychometric assessments of Macquarie for the Graduate Program in London and I have done them on Friday. If successful, I should be invited to the AC. Does anibody know how long it takes to have an answer?
Many thanks!!!
Heads up re RBS - they spun off their investment banking unit to something called NatWest and are not hiring as far as I know - if I'm wrong someone please tell me!
it's called structured finance at RBS
thanks, already had applied to their investment management when I couldn't find IB so I'm tapped out for this year
Anyone heard back from GS post hirevue?
