I interviewed with GS realty management for my summer after sophomore year internship. I had a first round phone interview in early February and they brought me in for a superday mid February. The other kids at the superday were not very impressive. Pretty much Juniors who lacked applicable previous internships scrambling to get a decent summer gig.
The interviews was all about fit. One of the VP was clearly the hard interviewer since he was being an ass to all the interviewees. Otherwise, not too hard.
How does one apply for this position on the GS site? I can't seem to find Realty Management as an option. Thanks for your feedback.
Also, I will be applying to this program as a rising junior with no previous intern experience, but excellent finance EC's, GPA and connection to a GS higher up. Should I encounter much resistance?
I first applied on OCR and after I made it past the phone screen and received a superday invite, they told me to apply on the GS website. I remember I had to pick the location first and then the site game me the option for which Division (PWM, RE, etc)

I don't know how much EC's are weighed unless they're directly applicable to RE. Also, I don't think a connection with a GS higher up will be helpful unless said person knows someone in their realty management group well enough to put a strong word in for you.
That's correct, currently entering sophomore year. I'm on the application page where it asks me to selected a division and RE isn't one of them, that's why I ask how to apply.
It could be that it's still incredibly early to be applying for next summer...
I would wait towards the end of the semester since the resume drop didn't even open till January for OCR.

So I've noticed there are a few posts about GS's RMD but rather limited info about work-life balance. Anyone with insightful comments as to work-life, social atmosphere, exit opps (both internal+external) and of course, compensation.... Would it be a Chinese sweatshop? Any differences between US/Europe within the team?
Having said that, I don't expect a 9AM-5PM job but would be nice to know more about the lifestyle. Thanks in advance!
Bump - interested in the same. In an acquisition role here - are you still seen as "Asset Management" or is they way into REPE very feasible if you are good and network?

This is from their website "Real Estate Asset Management performs deal sourcing, underwriting, acquisition, due diligence, asset management and disposition functions. The group specializes in office, retail, industrial and multifamily assets."
Would this be a solid group to get investing and underwriting experience while additionally being easier to get into? Thanks.

A lot of guys from TCU/SMU as most Texas companies stick to their own. Culture is definitely different (read: better) than other divisions of GS. Can't speak toward comp though

I don't know anyone in the RMD, but here is what I understand about the group. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong:
GS invests in real estate in a few different ways (Whitehall, GSREMP, RE investing in their Asset Mgt division). The Realty Management Division basically takes care of all the sourcing, acquisition, due diligence, dispositions, etc. I imagine your job would be very similar to Acquisitions Analyst at a REIT or any other RE shop. That being said, hours can fluctuate based on deal flow. Also, I imagine the exit opps would be similar to any other acquisitions role (REPE, REIT, grad school).
I was looking into this as well and my understanding is it is an Asset Management position with little to no investment/acquisition responsibilities. But I could be way off here
