Thank a shit ton!

Hey buddy,

I got asked technical and non-technical questions.

Technicals:

  • Walk me through a DCF

  • What are some disadvantages of a DCF over other valuation methods?

  • Are you familiar with an LBO? If so, what is it?

Non-technical:

  • Why IB? Why CP?

  • Name a recent deal of interest to you and why it was interesting (I named a CP one)

  • What industries do you follow? What activity has there been in them (Name two in which they are strong and one in which they aren't)

  • Tell me a time of strength/weakness/initiative

This was for an SA position and I don't have a finance background so if you're applying to something else with a finance background the technicals may be harder.

Centerview has historically had pretty tough interviews. Usually pretty technical, with stuff not straight from the guides. They also like to ask brain teasers. I've heard they like to fuck with you in the superday; interrupting you, acting like dicks, etc. I had an informational interview with an analyst there and he straight up asked me a mental math question, just for fun. So be prepared for anything. I think they really weed out those who aren't innately smart - their interviews are hard to fake. Best of luck.
