Hey buddy,
I got asked technical and non-technical questions.
Technicals:
Walk me through a DCF
What are some disadvantages of a DCF over other valuation methods?
Are you familiar with an LBO? If so, what is it?
Non-technical:
Why IB? Why CP?
Name a recent deal of interest to you and why it was interesting (I named a CP one)
What industries do you follow? What activity has there been in them (Name two in which they are strong and one in which they aren't)
Tell me a time of strength/weakness/initiative
This was for an SA position and I don't have a finance background so if you're applying to something else with a finance background the technicals may be harder.
I thought SA 2019 applications don't come out until Sep? I was told by the team that they would start interviewing in September
No no this was for SA a few years back.
What location did you interview at?
London
Mine was way more technical than this -- good luck OP.
can you please tell me what you got asked? thanks a lot
Hey bookfixer did you apply through OCR?
No, through networking
Is this SA or FT? NYC?
Wondering as well
FT west coast
Centerview has historically had pretty tough interviews. Usually pretty technical, with stuff not straight from the guides. They also like to ask brain teasers. I've heard they like to fuck with you in the superday; interrupting you, acting like dicks, etc. I had an informational interview with an analyst there and he straight up asked me a mental math question, just for fun. So be prepared for anything. I think they really weed out those who aren't innately smart - their interviews are hard to fake. Best of luck.
did you do one recently?
Have stuff ready for why you want to work at an independent bank rather than a bulge bracket
what is investment banking and what purpose does it serve greater society
Know how to do an accretion/dilution model
Anyone starting Centerview's process? I have a first round oci next week and have no idea what to expect
Apparently they LOVE brain teasers so look up the lightbulb one and some common mathy type brainteasers. No real way to fully prep for those tho.
how was it?
Not the person you asked but I interviewed first round 2 weeks ago and it was 45 minutes of pure technical questions - not a single tell me about yourself etc question and later this week I have a second phone interview.
Hey guys, I'm through to FT AC (London) and it's already on Friday. Do you guys have any advice on how to prepare? I'm from a non-mathy background so kind of scared of the brainteasers haha
May I kindly ask how did you apply for Centerview (London specifically)? What recruitment agency did you use (if any)? Was it Dartmouth?
The CVP internships aren’t much advertised on the internet, at least I haven’t seen any postings about them neither did I find them on recruitment agencies’ websites. Should I reach out to someone at the recruitment agency or how is the application process generally structured for EBs that don’t run their own recruitment akin to GS and etc?
P.S. I can see you’ve interviewed 4 years ago so I’m not sure if I will even get the reply :D
Did anyone have a superday with them?
Yeah I did. Yesterday
How’d it go?
did anyone hear back from the superday yesterday?
Nope
Haven't as well
Me neither
Can confirm offers have started coming out for the superday that occurred yesterday.
Are they done?
I’m not sure, sorry
Yes
Theyre giving offers out on a sunday?
