Goldman FIG Interview

Anyone interviewed with FIG (or any FIG team for that matter )and can shed some light on what the interviews covered?

Particularly interested in what the first round entailed.

edit: is it just me or are all thread titles in the IB bullpen showing up twice, for anyone else?

Goldman Sachs FIG

The setting will be one on one or two on one and consist of four thirty minute interviews. Here are some key concepts to understand

  • Why do FIG valuations use a DDM (Dividend Discount Model) as opposed to a DCF 3-4 minutes?
  • Bank and Insurance related ratios
  • Bank and Insurance revenue models. What is their business model? How do they make money?
  • Current state of affairs in a global economy.
  • Know general economic movements in the major parts of the world and a have more in depth knowledge for your specific geography.

Know regulatory things (Basel III, LCR, NSFR, Solvency II, RBC), know drivers of FIG (how the balance sheet drives the income statement), outlook for industry (different verticals such as banks/insurance/fintech), and other things specific to fin institutions like tier 1 capital, how each vertical makes money, First round might not be so technical and more along the lines of walk through resume, etc. FIG is a crown-jewel of GS..so be prepared.

Incredible help guys, thank you very much!

People like you are what make this site such good quality, thanks!

You know you've been working too hard when you stop dreaming about bottles of champagne and hordes of naked women, and start dreaming about conditional formatting and circular references.
