Did they tell you which group within IMD your HireVue was for? Also were the market-related questions catered to the industry you are pursuing/most relevant to your resume or were they much more general (i.e. macro stuff)? My application status still says application received, but I've networked my ass off so I'm expecting a HireVue at the very least. Best of luck!

No the Hireview is entirely just behavioral questions not specific to any group or whatever. The market-related question is very general. Things get more specific if moved to the next round, which would be a 2 on 1 skype video interview, where it's more personal and specific questions where you can express your interest for different groups or asset classes. Then after that round, if moved to the superday, you interview with different specific groups within GSAM, and then if a group likes you they can extend you an offer. hope that helps.

I just finished the hirevue. Has anyone gotten an acceptance to the next round and can reflect on how they think they did on the Hirevue? I thought I did alright but its so hard to know when talking to a damn camera.

Completely agree, I find that I'm really stiff during them and it affects how i talk. I definitely think they will get rid of HireVues in the next few years because they find they can't gauge how a kid actually is by watching them sit in a suit and tie and talk to a camera. We just got in recruiting at a bad time.

Market-related question was: Describe a recent M&A transaction you followed on the news and found interesting. Explain why you found this interesting.

I had my HireVue with Goldman in Philly on October 25th and am still waiting for a response from them. I was wondering if anyone who applied to the Philly office has heard back from them or still waiting? Thanks!
