It's not technical at all if that's what you are asking. Mostly a bunch of scenarios where you watch some videos and answer "What would you do in this situation" questions.
are there any specific questions like what strengths can you bring?
are the numerical questions really not technical and it states that answers will be recorded?
What programme are you guys applying for? Mine is for Global Markets TRADING and my email does not state anything to do with a webcam... I think the simulator will change for each programme.
I have also have to complete the Job Simulation Assessment for Global Markets - Trading. Have you completed it yet? If so, would you mind sharing your experience, the instructions in the email they send are quite vague.
They basically have two online assessments. The first one is to watch a bunch of videos and then answer questions. The second one, which is the job simulator, is a combination of multiple questions, essays, and video interviews. The invite for the job simulator is sent after the first online assessment.
Hey man! I hope you re well! I just applied for the Global Markets Trading position (Internship) at HSBC. Could you tell me how does the procedure look like? Do you remember any questions and tasks from the Job Simulation Assessment? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I have to take the Job Simulation assessment for Global Private Banking. Has someone already completed it? Which kind of questions should I expect?
Hey Marianna! I hope you re well! I just applied for the Global Markets Trading position (Internship) at HSBC. Could you tell me how does the procedure look like? Do you remember any questions and tasks from the Job Simulation Assessment? Thanks in advance!
I took the first online assessment for Wealth Management London and heard back 4-5 days after.
Today I´m taking the job simulation assessment and found nothing online about it, the only thing I know is what it´s on the hints and tips section of the HSBC webpage
It is divided into 4 parts, in each part they test different skills but you always have to do the same. There is a math section which is basic math problems, in this section you are given 12 minutes to read through the data and answer the questions (not oral) but it is quite easy, I only used 7’ and I double checked everything. The rest is just behavioral and fit questions that you have to answer by recording yourself and speaking Max. 3’ (they also give u 30secs before answering). In some questions you are requested to write a small essay instead of speaking, though these were only 2-3 Qs
Has anyone heard back after the first-round telephone interview? I did it last Friday 24th Nov, and was very different from what I heard from my pals, strength based.
Global graduate programme has something similar where you need to do basic math calculations of market share, revenue growth, profitability, shareholding, etc. as well as go through situational examples regarding: voicing an opinion to an MD when he says he knows better, advising a friend on something dodgy going on, managing a meeting where people interrupt et. al
The full assessment takes about an hour and it's not timed so you have all the time in the world to check your technical answers (even though they're very basic math and require only a basic understanding of financials and deal structure). You do not need to record anything for this one and it's multiple choice reactions to specific work situations interspersed with tidbits from current analysts about the programme.
EDIT: the key is to have in mind at all times the firm's values: DEPENDABLE, OPEN TO NEW IDEAS, RESPECT. always choose the harder but more ethical decision; HSBC is really trying to clean up after the AML scandals this decade
I think this might be different from what OP is talking about. I did the assessment you're talking about for global graduate programme, and then I got an invite for the job simulation as well. I think the simulator is kind of like a second round.
I recently applied to IBD at HSBC and have to take the Job Simulation Assessment. I was wondering what this entailed, and also if I have some pre-written notes on the computer will they be able to see if I am looking at them?
I did the APAC one, you can't really practice for it. There is multiple choice which isn't timed, there is also another section where you are given 6 questions, 5 of them you have to answer in 12 mins and the last question you are supposed to write your recommendation for a question they'll ask you. You'll be given 10 mins to do that. Then there are two sections where they show you case study/email and you are given time to prepare before responding the usual hi revue way. In total, there were four sections. I hope its helpful to you.

Where are you located?
Do you have any insight on the Job simulation interview ( the one with video recording)
I did it. It took a really long time. You basically watch a bunch of videos and then answers questions after each video.
Do we need to record a video for each question or just for some of them, also which kind of questions are they asking pls ?

I have done it. I am wondering how long before i hear back :(?
I have not heard back either. Keeping my fingers crossed!
So do we need to record a video or not, I'm confused. Cause it says "video delivered business-line aligned assessment"???
I think we will have to record videos because they ask me to use a device with a webcam.

Do you remember any specific questions for the job simulator? And do you think those questions are in anyway related to trading or just general?
.
Hey man! I hope you re well! I just applied for the Global Markets Trading position (Internship) at HSBC. Could you tell me how does the procedure look like? Do you remember any questions and tasks from the Job Simulation Assessment? Thanks in advance!
so what sort of questions are involved in the job simulation?

Hi! I'm doing it for the same division! Can you provide some insight into how it was, what kind of questions? Should I prepare technical stuff?

Have they already started phone interviews?

Had this as well when I applied for FT NYC.
I am applying to FT in NYC now. Did you get the offer/ have good experience in the interview process? Thanks!

Hey Nerdy2, sorry about the delay, but are any of these useful:
More suggestions...
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...

Received one invitation for HSBC Job Simulation - IBD Off Cycle EMEA.
