IB - Houston Bonus Thread

Would be interested to know how the bonuses are turning out to be in Houston this year given all the events that have occurred.

An answer in the following template would be much appreciated:

Position: Ex. AN1

Bank: MM/BB/EB

Bucket: Top/Mid/Bottom

Base:

Bonus:

Thank you!

That’s a good thing for banks- kick the can down the road and get paid for the new notes and tendering the old ones. In low interest rate environment banks (mine including) have cleaned up in the debt capital markets. I think the sentiment with 2021 being worse is because we pay bonuses for analysts on a June cycle, so when we got paid our bonus last year covid was really only a factor for about 2 months beforehand - this June it will have been a full year of covid-induced cost reductions for lots of banks

Anyone have a word on BB comps? What do buckets traditionally look like?

Extremely fratty is how I would describe it. Interacted with a few folks from there recently and that group is the definition of work hard and party harder. Apparently they passed around smelling salts for the interns this past summer lol. Also have heard about rampant use of drugs in the office.

Having said, the President/co founder is Skip McGee who is right up there amongst some of the best Energy bankers ever. The got some pretty cool mandates through their partnership with Rothschild for rx mandates.
