Incoming 2020 Full Time Analyst: June 1st SIE Exam
With FINRA testing centers being closed until the end of May, does anyone know whats going on for full time analysts that were asked to pass the FINRA SIE exam by June 1st? Emailed my HR but have not heard anything
Any ideas or updates would be nice!
Pretty sure finance is covered under the "essential services" exams that re-open May 1.
Can someone confirm if SIE is essential?
Yes. Prometric has SIE exams available for registration starting 5/1. May vary by state, though.
At a smaller bank but they said they anticipate people missing the June 1 deadline but to try and get it done by then if possible.
Is this standard for incoming FT IB analysts? Going to a BB and haven't heard anything in regards to this exam or anything else required to do before training yet.
Likewise for GS
Been told June 1st by JPM but not sure if still the deadline
Soft deadline is June 1
Also haven't heard anything about this for EVR
I know BofA told their analysts to wait and didn't send out any study material. I think they take the SIE during training instead of before.
citi analysts take it during training as well
Firms will obviously be flexible with deadlines in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, but it may make sense to confirm such leniency with your employer. As another individual posted above, you should be covered under "essential services" exams set to be available in May. Again, I would recommend that you confirm this with your local Prometric Center as soon as possible. I know new hires have had success in receiving responses by e-mail.
FINRA is allowing online SIE testing starting May 24

When are we allowed to schedule online testing? Can't find a link on their site
anyone that's studying right now / passed already - is this exam difficult? i'm swamped with finals so haven't been able to look at any of the studying materials. will need to cram studying into a few days if test centers near me open up soon...
Not crazy difficult no. But you definitely need to put the time in.
Take a lot of practice questions, preferably from several different sources. My firm gave me Knopman and I had started studying beforehand with Achievable. Absolutely take the online FINRA practice exam - the questions will be worded slightly differently than Knopman questions.
Don't be too worried if you score well on Knopman and don't do as well on the FINRA practice one, just make sure you review the questions and maybe retake it a few days before your scheduled test.
Anyone having trouble rescheduling the SIE exam with prometric? Getting errors despite correct confirmation #s...
Also having issues, I think we have to wait another week or two before we can schedule online testing
incoming analyst at BB. haven’t started studying for SIE and my bank has a soft June 1 deadline.
Am I fucked lol? I’ve been busy with school until now
Nah, you can prepare in 1-2 weeks no problem. Read through the book once, watch video lectures (if your test prep provider has them), and do a bunch of practice exams.
Anyone know when online testing scheduling will start? The website said starting on May 11th we can schedule online exams for May 24, but I haven't seen anywhere to do that...
FINRA still figuring it out, nothing available yet.
My exam is in a few days and I’m only scoring high 70s low 80s on knopmans and Stc exam but got a 85 on the finra exam. Is this good enough? I’m getting anxiety about the chance I fail and lose my offer
Dude you’ll be fine. If you’re passing knopman consistently and did well on the actual FINRA practice there’s no need to worry. If you haven’t really been failing to begin with the odds of you starting now is small.
Had a friend barley get a 70 on the final practice exam and took it anyway and said it was way easier.
Good to know, thanks! I’m just worried given the current environment and I don’t want to give my bank a reason to rescind.
Finance is considered essential so I was able to take and pass it last week. My bank originally mentioned to try and have it done before training but didn't provide any updates regarding COVID affecting testing.
What were you scoring prior to the test? what service? Thanks!
I used STC and was scoring between 75-85% on the six practice exams I took and got an 85% on FINRAs practice exam. I also thought the test was a bit easier and more straightforward than the practice exams so keep that in mind.
Im taking the 79TO first week of June in a midwestern state. I was able to reschedule for free. This was supposed to be done in April but then got pushed back again. Ive rescheduled twice now but no extra charge was applied.
