I assume you're talking straight out of undergrad? The progression on the buyside typically goes associate --> analyst. Base pay is typically comparable to IB, bonuses are lower, but so are hours (50-60 hours/week). All in most make 80K-100K right out of undergrad depending on fund/location. Because hours are lower, average hourly pay is higher than other areas of finance.

Now it's in the right forum. a large mutual fund (Fidelity, T Rowe, Franklin Templeton, Brandes Investment..etc) for first year research associates/analysts straight out of undergrad....

Sorry not very clear but this was a question if anyone knew what base and/or bonus was at mutual funds....
I only know post MBA, its about 100k base and 20-70% bonus.
If it has less than a 1B AUM, I can't imagine them paying you close to a $10B+ fund. If you just look at the amount they make on fees, a billion dollar fund has to cover legal, accounting expenses, and then pay out salaries for all the employees, then still have money left over for distributions as well as extra to add to a cash reserve.

People at my firm have gone on to hf's, sell-side research, top 5 MBA, stayed at the firm, or went to larger/other long-only shops. 1st year pay is standard 70+10 base.
Btw, most asset mgmt analyst programs are 3 years (vs 2 for banking).

Comparable to SS research, some places less, some more. Bonus gets much higher if you stay after the program.

In my experience it has been 80 base + 20 signing + up to 40 eoy. May or may not be the norm.
What are the pre-requisites of getting into a mutual fund? Good places to start in Europe?
