Lol surprised you didn't mention audemars.
Lol, audemars look ugly.
Rolex Datejust II (two-tone).
Have a Rolex Daytona being passed down but Datejust II is nicer.
Rolex Datejust is a fine piece. Don't have one personally but looks nice.
You're a senior VP! You can have 100 of them.
Casio CA53W Calculator Watch
LOL
Lmfao
Hahahaha, I finally know the name of that thing. Jesus.
Get back to work, Dwight.
The only kind of watch you'll ever need.
I don't wear anything on my wrists. I stopped wearing one last year as I was kickboxing every night.

I am a big fan of the Bulova rectangular faced leather banded watches on casual days
I´ve been looking for Bulova watches for ages. Where do you get them? Duty frees at the airport? State faire markets? The local beach boy?
I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.
Apple Watch with leather bands that match my shoes/belt on a daily basis. Rolex Submariner (stainless and black face) for formal occasions.
1) Seiko SKX009 as a daily wearer, really love the Pepsi dial on it
2) An Omega I got from my grandfather, over 50 years old, still runs, but the downside is that it's not waterproof or even water resistant. I wear it only on special occasions as it is
I own a couple different colors of the Brera Orologi Supersportivo
I'm not a watch aficionado, but I love the way they look and the faces are big enough on my wrist to not look like I'm wearing a woman's watch.
Hahaha borderline men/woman watches are the worst.
looks like an Hublot for poor people
Broken Guess watch that I got for my birthday one year. Hasn't worked for at least a year. Gives the appearance that I'm wearing a metal-linked watch, nothing fancy. Honestly no one apart from watch enthusiasts give a shit, and a watch enthusiast will take a passing glance out of the corner of their eye and leave it at that.
I look at my phone when I want to see the time.
Why don't you get it fixed? Just as a matter of personal pride or personal upkeep / professionalism. I don't see how this is different than having a hole or a stain on your shirt and continuing to wear it. Your watch doesn't need to be anything fancy but you shouldn't be wearing broken stuff. You would be much better off with nothing at all.
Citizen and Seiko chronographs as an entry level analyst / Masters student
Solid choices.
Tag Heuer
Panerai Luminor and Rolex Turnograph are the two I wear most frequently.
None. I have two Rolexes that never get worn because they're to flashy. Most of my friends are poor and my boss drives a ten-year-old Toyota, so wearing a Rolex would be a bit much.
Sil, do you mean "too" flashy? Huh???
i hate watches. i wear a fitbit
I hate watches and fitbit. I wear the blood of my opponent.
"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee
Citizen, I bought myself a few as an early birthday gift.
Seiko 5 7S26
Nothing flashy, expensive or particularly special. I've had it for close to 10 years, still works and looks as good as it did back then.
My first watch was a Jean-Richard, which was like 3 grand (bought it at a discount) lol. Nobody knew the brand, so I returned it. Now I wear an IWC (Clean, sharp and simple)... Rolex is tacky, imo. A trader at my desk wears one and it doesn't appeal to me at all.
Always wanted an IWC portuguese
One gold and steel mixed bracelet Omega DeVille and a black dial and black leather strap Omega DeVille. Works of art that aren't too showy.
Generally this:
As long as i have a black leather, a brown leather, and a metal one I am ok! My wife bought me a beautiful Kenneth Cole that i totally love
Christopher ward moonphase for everyday wear
Don't wear a watch.. I think its something that needs to be earned. Stick to looking at your iPhone to check the time until you have made a name for yourself in your group / it is known that you performed well enough the year before and deserve to wear a $10k+ watch.
I know, it's vanilla, but I have a plain black leather Tissot, never gets old..
I wear a Linjer. I like it.
..
Hamilton has low profile watches that won't draw negative attention.
SA watch recommendation (Originally Posted: 03/13/2014)
I'm an incoming SA and I'm looking for a nice watch that'll last a long time and looks pretty clean/professional. I want something with automatic movement (not quartz) and I'm looking to keep it under 800 bucks. I'd probably prefer a leather strap but I'm open to either. These seem like some good options to me:
http://www.amazon.com/Tissot-Heritage-Visodate-Automatic-T019-430-16-03…
http://www.amazon.com/Certina-C006-430-11-051-00/dp/B00CAXAOA6/ref=sr_1…
If anyone else has recommendations for something that would also fit what I'm looking for I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
I've heard good things about Tissot watches, but I have no first hand experience. Another brand in your price range I'd look into is Hamilton. Great automatic watches with classic designs. Here's one I like:
http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Jazzmaster-Viewmatic-Watch-H32515555/dp/B0017RZ8GQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1394734881&sr=8-5&keywords=hamilton+thin-o-matic
Good call on the Hamilton, great watches.
I'd move towards a Hamilton or Tissot with black leather and white dial. About 42mm. More formal and also has a sleek look. For ex. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZT1KG2/ref=s9_simh_gw_p241_d0_i7?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1BSJ0HJM2ACK2Z9HW4MW&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846.
The Tissot looks nice. I'd just stop by at a local shop and try a few watches. Have a look at how it fits your wrist and personality, and how it complements your (business) outfit.
I recommend a Japanese Seiko, something from the SARB series (the Alpinist is awesome) or a SKX if you like divers.

Cosign MissMoneyPenny. When you earn a full-time this summer, then you should worry about what nice watch you want. I used it as my motivation throughout the summer.
Ya i agree with hamilton for an ~500$ watch
Take a look at this stainless Hamilton as well
http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Jazzmaster-Stainless-Steel-H32505151/dp/B0085RLW3E/ref=sr_1_2?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1398093999&sr=1-2&keywords=hamilton+stainless.
I'd save up until you can afford something in the $2,000 - $3,000 range. You will have a number of nicer options that will last you forever (or until you trade up). Those watches will also keep their value much more than a $500-$800 watch.
@FellowActuary: Not everyone wants to buy a watch in the 2K - 3K range, even if they could afford it.
I'm not a big fan of either of those you linked OP. But that's because the Tissot logo seems really big and that's not me - then the Certina lacks the "it" factor. (Again these are just personal opinions, still completely up to you!)
Also, I know you said you prefer leather straps but if you get sweaty easily you'll ruin that strap!
I'll try and post some ones later that fit what you're looking for, I'm a bit rushed for time right now :)
Strong chance someone above you notices a nice watch, and immediately categorizes you as someone entitled or not needing to work hard for a living. I'd recommend against it.
Strong chance that actually never happens since people don't care

this is a good website for watch references. I got the Tsovet Sv-CN38 based on the reviews.

Which of these watches do you like best. (Originally Posted: 05/05/2011)
Looking for some quality watch advise. After doing some searching, I have narrowed down my choices to 4. Which of the following do you prefer. Baume et Mercier Classima Executive, Cartier Tank, Breitling Galactic or Cartier Ballon. Pictures can be found through the links below. Thanks all.
B&M - http://www.watchesho.com/photo/baume-mercier-8688-231355.jpg
Tank - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41BCLxLYI1L.SL300.jpg
Breitling - http://ns3.steindiamonds.com/images/upload_images/watches/13904_big_b49…
Ballon - http://www.exactwatches.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/23084.jpg
I would go for the breitling. Ive got a similar looking model (old watch tho) with the same bracelet. The color is more towards the hermes leathery color, in the picture it looks much darker
At this price level, don't ask for advice- get the one you like. They are all great watches.
Between these four models, I really like the Cartier Ballon. Looks really powerful.
If you want something a bit more understated/formal, I like the baume, but with a black strap. Normally I'd go for the breitling, but I don't dig gold accents on watches. Personal preference.
Nothing wrong with the tank, I just don't like square watches.
As I said, it's all about your own tastes.
B&M is the best one for my taste.
Breitling is nice but gold is not for everyone
Cartier is nice but not my taste
Tank sucks
oh yeah, dont forget that at that price range you could easily go for a second hand patek, lecoultre or vacheron constantin...
B&M
B&M or the Breitling. But i prefer leather straps.
I like the Ballon in pictures, but it didn't have the same wow factor for me in person.
Out of the 4, I say B&M. I don't like the gold on the Breitling. To each their own...
At those price points there's a couple other brands worth viewing (maybe moreso than the ones you've provided in terms of being recognized or 'more prestigious' watchmakers). I'm curious if you've narrowed down your list on brand preference or just looks...
I vote the B&M or the Ballon.
Cartier Tank always seems like a woman's watch to me, dunno why.
I like Breitling in general but that one looks odd to me for some reason.

That is sick...
B&M or Balloon.

Why does Situation need a watch? His laundromat and gym now make appointments or something?
Ha ha hilarious.
Cartier Tank (I'm a female)
But I rarely wear it
I wish I could say Rolex
Blancpain, just like my boy Putin.
Son of a tech executive I wear a breitling super ocean
How is Frank Muller viewed in the banking setting? Thinking about a Casablanca
Too expensive?
Too big?
Just right?
Opinions welcome.
Hideous. The numbers are way too much and then some.
Halios Delfin
I have a number of watches, some are nice I have 2 Omega Seamasters, My Grandfathers from the 50s and a Planet Ocean Chronograph. I have a Cartier gold tank, a Bulova chrono, an automatic Gucci Pantera, a crap Invicta, and a bunch of other lesser watches. I wear them everyday. Hamilton is doing great job as well. I'm a big fan.
1940s Rolex Bubbleback. Because it is on a leather band and an antique, nobody ever notices it except for other watch people.
IWC Portuguese with black leather band. Where it every day except on the rare day that I'm wearing brown shoes and the day of my annual review.
My wife bought for a me a Kenneth Cole watch that I love, Black leather and pearl inside with roman numbers, Very classy but extremely easy to dress down for more casual occasions
Rolex GMT 16710
Ted Baker.
Whipped my dick out and swaggered into Nordstrom Rack to pick it up.
"Work ethic, work ethic" - Vince Vaughn
Current: Gold Citizen Eco drive with a brown leather strap
Next: Panerai Radiomir, Tag
Dream: Either a Patek, Vacheron Constantin, or Jaeger LeCoultre thats gold with a leather strap
what about A. Lange Sohne?
Longines Flagship
The Blankfein Casio as a daily of course
Breitling Transocean Chronograph 1461 with a brown leather band. Easy to dress up or down, everyday watch
Nice - and only $8K
Rolex Sky-Dweller in Everose (full bracelet)
Seiko Presage Cocktail Time
Laco Montreal
Just bought myself a Seiko Cocktail Time, awesome looking watches
$30 Timex
Alternate between multiple Citizen Eco Drives, JLC Master Réserve de Marche for extremely formal occasions. Gotta hold off until I get a couple of promotions to actually wear it to work
Longines Hydroconquest
NOMOS Tangomat for all occasions.
I didnt have nomos automatic money but i did buy a tangente datum and its one of my favorite purchases of all time
Me neither-- got mine pre-loved (~50% off) after drooling over the catalog for weeks! It looks just like your gorgeous Tangente, but I don't have manual wind patience.
What I wear:
Rolex - Datejust - silver and white gold bezel/jubilee bracelet. Vintage piece
Rolex - Daytona - white dial, ceramic (116500)
A Lange & Sohne - Saxonia - thin 37mm released about a year ago now (?)
What I want next:
Patek Philippe - Nautilus - 5711/1A-010...don't get me started on this one and the recent craze around it. Pains me that they are hiking the prices 20% on this and the steel 5712 starting March 1. Fairly certain my turn for one was coming this year but that hike is really testing me on how bad I want it
A Lange & Sohne - Lange 1 - white gold.
Unfortunately there just isn't a ton that really excites me below the $25K range these days. I will never grow to love the "patisserie" dial pattern on AP Royal Oaks as much as I respect the historical significance of the watch. Current "affordable" VC collection simply doesn't catch my eye. I've never been a big fan of the other professional/tool watches from Rolex, although I can certainly appreciate the versatility of something like a GMT II. I have a ton of respect for the Skydweller too, but I have smaller wrists and that is simply too much watch for me.
"Dream" watches is a whole separate conversation!
You have great taste. I got to play with a Platinum Lange 1 at a trade show recently-- love at first sight.
Thanks!
I haven't had a chance to actually see the Lange 1 Platinum in person - only the white gold. I'm focused on the WG version since it has a very similar aesthetic with the white dial (plus the lumens are a bonus from my perspective) at a more reasonable price point. My only concern with them is how well they retain their value. I've seen and read plenty about deep discounts on ALS in the used/grey market. It's a bit of an oddity to me since their annual production is so limited and they seem to have a rather devout following of fans/collectors.
Just finished paying off my student loans and picked up my first automatic watch this week. I got a Frederique Constant Classic Index with a black leather strap. Very simple design and cost under $500. Hoping to be able to pick up and Omega Deville Tresor in a couple years.
Fitness bracelet) It's a cool and useful gadget. And it indicates that you stick to the healthy style of life.
Seiko Sistem 51 for a daily driver. It's nice enough for the prestige guys from the distance they look at it at, and neat enough for the watch geeks. I replaced a Seiko 6138 "UFO" that I waited too long to get serviced with it.
For fancy events? A '62 Seamaster day/date. Servicing is just too expensive to wear it every day.
Quite sure I will be mocked, but I have a (massive) Seiko Prospex Marine Master Kinetic Dive watch that I have work for years. I actually go diving in it, mountain climbing, ect and it is completely invincible. Not even a tiny scratch on the sapphire crystal.
The kinetic movement features and automatic movement that charges up a battery. So, you get quartz movement 'ticks' with 100% accuracy, and never have to change the battery. That involves disassembling the case, which compromises waterproofing (which is >1000 ft)
