AM Analyst Role at MM Infra PE vs. IB/M&A Analyst at Infra Boutique?
Hi all, first time posting here. I'm an IB analyst at a small infrastructure M&A advisory and recently got an offer from an UMM infra fund for an asset management analyst role. New employer is willing to match my salary (including bonus). Have heard that AM roles' packages become comparable to investment roles when you go up the ranks - is this also applicable for someone joining as an analyst? Any prospects of carry?
Other aspects: the MM fund is more well-known than my current employer - would place it right below Antin/Ardian; hours are similar at the analyst level, which I don't mind. The AM team is only involved in the asset sale process in terms of live deal exposure.
Any advice on if I should switch to the AM role now vs. stay until I have 2 years' IB experience and exit to an investment analyst/associate role at a PE?
