Crestline Investors - PC?
Came across Crestline in some searching around on this site, and seems like they have decent AUM. Are they considered more traditional private credit, like Ares (seem to have a direct lending arm)? Or more a credit hedge fund? Good place to learn about being a credit investor other platforms?
For that matter, where is even the line between traditional PC vs credit HF?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, Crestline Investors operates in a hybrid space that can blur the lines between traditional private credit (PC) and credit hedge funds (HF). They are known for their focus on opportunistic credit, special situations, and private credit strategies, which include direct lending. This positions them closer to firms like Ares in some respects, but their opportunistic and hedge fund-like strategies also align them with credit hedge funds.

The Line Between PC and HF:
The distinction often comes down to liquidity and investment horizon: - Private Credit: Illiquid, long-term investments, often with a direct origination focus. - Credit Hedge Funds: More liquid, shorter-term investments, with a focus on trading and opportunistic strategies.
Crestline seems to straddle this line, offering a mix of both worlds. If you're interested in a versatile credit investing experience, they could be a great choice!

Crestline has a hedge fund arm (believe it is called SummitTX now). Their private credit team works across direct lending and opportunistic strategies. Great place with great people.
Bump for more info
Crestline's private credit group is based in FW. Juniors can work from Dallas office a few days a week but have to go to FW on others. Seniors are allowed to pretty much never go to FW but usually do since that's where the group head is based. Honestly, the deals they do are remarkably boring. Went through interview and super day process last year and am glad I decided not to join. Comp isn't bad for Dallas but the ceiling is real. Senior guys living in at best average homes tells you all you need to know. Family oriented culture tho
how's the pay there?
$135-150k base for associate and 50-75% bonus IIRC
Could I PM you? Interviewing in a week and would appreciate any advice on what to expect.
