SIG Research Associate

Has anyone ever interviewed for a full time research associate (undergraduate) position at Susquehanna International Group?

Is it highly technical?

Will they ask a lot of brainteaser questions, like they do of people who apply for the Assistant Trader position?

Again, this position would be for a person just coming out of undergrad.

Thanks.

Just brain teasers that will make you think. They also ask poker questions like how many should you should bet if you have this hand.

Here's some on glassdoor.com

What is the expected value to you of the following game: You and another person have 3 coins each. You both flip all of your coins and if your three coins show the same number of tails as the other person, you pay them $2, otherwise they pay you $1.

You and your opponent take turns choosing numbers from 1-10. How should you play to get 60.

A submarine has two missiles that each have a 1/3 probability of hitting a target. Both missiles are fired at a target. What is the probability that at least one missile hit the target?

If the chances of you seeing a meteor outside within one hour is 84 percent, what is the chance of you seeing at least one meteor outside in 30 minutes.

Questions about dice rolling. Can roll die max 2 times and get whatever value is on the die on your last roll (be it first or second). What is expected value.

You have five pirates, ranked from 5 to 1 in descending order. The top pirate has the right to propose how 100 gold coins should be divided among them. But the others get to vote on his plan, and if fewer than half agree with him, he gets killed. How will the coins end up being divided, assuming all the pirates are rational and want to end up alive?

Just wanna see if I'm right about the dice question. we wanna get the highest value possible. start from only 1 roll: e1 = 7/2; if the first roll is over 7/2 (from 4) we stop; otherwise we keep rolling. so e2 = (4+5+6)/6+e1*3/6 = 17/4 right?

I interviewed with their research department. Made it to the final two, but wasn't the one to get the offer. They're all very nice there. I was asked basic accounting questions, any stocks I was currently interested in, a lot about why ER, and why should I be given the opportunity to work with them. Good luck.

My friend interviewed with them for a gig in China. I believe you will either have to write up a research report during a session or you will have to submit a writing sample. Either way, i would definitely suggest on trying to get a research report from SIG and reviewing how they conduct their analysis.

KICKIN ASS AND TAKING NAMES

Not sure, I can ask him. I mean, if its equity research have some stock pitches ready. Absolutely know the valuation techniques and accounting methods to normalizing earnings. The only reason my buddy even got the interview was due to his progress in the CFA program. If you haven't already I would probably sign up for an exam.

KICKIN ASS AND TAKING NAMES

Thank you BF.

I am honestly a bit far from the profile you describe... They are pitching this position for "recent undergrads". I wonder what the expectation might be. I am coming out of the University of Chicago with an extremely theoretical Economics degree - can't say I am well versed on valuation techniques or accounting methods... tough call.

Either way, if you think your friend might have any insights, I'd certainly appreciate you dropping him a line.

Thank you.
