Got an interview at D.E Shaw for fundamental research. Anyone know if this is going to be more behavioral or technical?

Maybe but as a non target I don't rly have much of a choice. I also heard they ask heavy statistical brain teasers. Do you know if this is true for fundamental research or just trading?

I asked a couple people and did a bit of research but it seems as though that was how their old recruiting process was - it used to be trading or quant

not a great shop to start out a career in L/S.

Its a pretty decent team afaik. I once interviewed for this team, interns are also not necessarily slotted on L/S, could also be credit, ABS, etc. The interviews were mostly behavioral/fit, would just have compelling reasons why you want to work there and be able to discuss your interests in depth. Was not asked anything math related. Good luck, think this is a great opportunity.

Isn't this a purely SS research type of role vs an Investment Analyst? I interviewed a while back and that's what I was told...research heavy and just pass information to investment analyst. Info gathering role - like canvas at p72.
Don’t think so. I believe this internship converts into the investment analyst role for FT. Though you’re right in the sense that interns will mostly just be doing research and passing that on

That's the last one and then they ask for references before giving an offer!

I'd say that DESCO moves rather fast in their recruitment process. Anecdotally, they've gotten back within days for each round. Same for peers around me too.
Is this for Summer Analyst or FT?
For people who got an offer, how long do they give to accept before it explodes?
they don't give exploding offers, u can take as much time as u need
