Point72 Model Test

Hey fellow chimps,

Currently on a buy-side seat (megafund) and have an upcoming 45 minutes model test from Point72.

Have anyone completed it and has some insights to share? I have only been told that is templated and I need to fill in formulas but I’m unsure what to expect.

Any steering is welcome.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Point72's modeling tests are often templated, meaning you'll likely be working with a pre-built model where your task is to fill in formulas or complete specific sections. Here are some key insights to help you prepare:

  1. Focus on Core Financial Modeling Skills: Brush up on your ability to handle:

    • Financial statement modeling (3-statement integration).
    • DCF (Discounted Cash Flow) analysis.
    • Basic valuation techniques (e.g., trading comps, precedent transactions).
  2. Excel Proficiency: Since the test is templated, ensure you're comfortable with:

    • Writing and troubleshooting formulas (e.g., VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, IF statements).
    • Navigating and auditing models efficiently using shortcuts.
  3. Time Management: With only 45 minutes, prioritize accuracy and speed. Practice working under time constraints to simulate the test environment.

  4. Attention to Detail: Templated tests often assess your ability to spot errors or inconsistencies in the model. Double-check your work as you go.

  5. Leverage WSO Resources: If you have access to the WSO Elite Modeling Package or similar courses, review the Financial Statement Modeling and DCF sections for a quick refresher.

Good luck, and remember—accuracy and efficiency are key!

How would you all compare this to a peakframe work model? Assuming similar minus the source & uses, and debt build?
