Very Keen, Help Requested: HF Prep Sources

So coming up to the end of my 2 years and I was in a very fortunate position to have some options in terms of MM PE etc. but have instead decided to take a break, refresh and explore HFs

Current experience is in generalist M&A (all sectors minus O&G, Infra/Renewables). Transaction experience mostly skewed towards buyouts and some P2Ps. Some OK credit exposure through stressed (not distressed though) transactions.

Want to pivot into HF but instead of rushing want to really prepare as well as I can and understand strategies on offer (L/S, SS / Distressed etc.)

I am in Europe and hiring is less structured so I am starting informational networking now with the aim of having something for Q3/Q4. Have a decent amount of free time so reading the usual stuff on investing and following FinTwit. Any resources that particularly jump out for you?

Questions:

- Case studies: would love if possible to get case studies on the major names (across universes): Balyasny, P72, Citadel, Millenium, DE Shaw, Angelo, D Kempner. Flexible to strike some sort of a deal here also happy to swap.

- Want to understand HF analyses as best as I can from the outside. How is the WSO HF course / guide? What resources have you guys used?

- One course that caught my eye is Brett Caughran’s Fundamental Edge (equities focused). Has anyone tried that before? Not interested in taking a punt given the price so very keen to chat with people who have tried it.

WSO has been very beneficial for my own learning while breaking in so happy to try and help if possible. Thank you all :)

I'd recommend you check out Brett @ Fundamental Edge's course. @FundamentEdge on twitter

Thanks his feed is good but want to get a flavour of the course in case someone has tried it.

This is the correct answer.

Following his feed? Yes, I am doing that already.

Too expensive. Dont waste money unless you have a guaranteed hf spot

Inclined to agree. The video one is ~$4k while the in person / live one is ~$8k. I have a suspicion a lot of international college students may be splurging here... Anyway, wait to see if it scales. Otherwise, tempted to see if someone has tried it or not.

Agreed. Took it earlier this year and couldn’t justify the price tag. Nothing too new vs CFA and not that much practical. Content is interesting but it’s mostly a collection of Brett’s HF experience

In a similar boat to you, but sector experience is slightly different and I'm still in IB (3yrs down).

Did you quit IB while you prep for HF?

Haven't quit yet but let's say last few months in IB. Sorry, need to update my tag - coming to Assoc 1 (have bit over 3 years of experience in M&A). How are you thinking of going about it? Scratching Caughran's thing, what about the WSO HF guide?

Edit: Sorry want to add that I do want to give the prep a decent go, not just the 20-30 hours of pre interview cramming. Hence the long post.
