Career Resources
DCM if you have any interest in lateraling to another IB group/firm like coverage or buyside opportunities (specifically the loan originations group, not fixed income). ABF is a great career path don't get me wrong but it really limits your exposure in my opinion and is tougher to lateral. Comp is similar for both, perhaps maybe even slightly higher in ABF just given PNC's dominance here.
Thanks for the insight. So would I be pigeon-holed in ABF because it’s so niche or would there be room to lateral to a DCM role at another bank at the junior level?
At a junior level you should be fine either way, careers are long and people lateral from less relevant places all the time. If you wait too long though, might have to lose a year in title if that makes sense.
Since PNC is strong in ABF/DCM, it’s common to see laterals out to strong BBs
