Accidentally lied on resume?

So I recently received an offer for a boutique IB internship for the summer in New York and now I have to go through the background check and reference check process.

On my resume I listed that I had an internship over the summer doing bookkeeping work for a small company in my hometown. The problem is that I did bookkeeping for 2 companies at once during that internship. The reason is because my dad owns both companies and the finance department for each company is ran by the same people. One company has my last name in it, the other does not.

I’m worried because I listed the company that did not have my last name In it (because I don’t want to come off as some spoiled rich kid) and I’m afraid if HR calls about the experience they will have to call the phone line associated with the company that has my last name in it. I am worried that I might have accidentally lied on my resume because now, looking back on it, my paychecks had the company with my last name on it. So legally I worked for that company.

The only thing I tried to do is omit the fact that the company I interned for was my dads business which, In my personal opinion is not unethical since they never asked. But now if they call, they might think that I was trying to Lie to them but I honestly wasn’t. I 100% did everything that I said I did in the job but I just did it for 2 companies instead of 1.

So should I.....

A. Call and explain to HR the situation and say that I might have accidentally lied and that I was legally employed at the company with my last name in it.

B. Call and explain that I did bookkeeping for 2 companies that were owned by my dad and not mention the fact that legally speaking I was employed for the other.

C. Not do anything and hope for the best.

Thanks for all the help. I am just so worried because I finally got an IB internship and I’m worried that I will be dinged as the kid who lied on my resume when honest to god I didn’t really mean to.

Option C. You didnt lied. You worked at a company owned by your dad and you listed it on your resume. Thats it. Dont think too much. You will know when the background checks comes thru so save the explanation for later..

Thanks for the response.

My only worry is that legally I was only employed for the one that had my last name on it. Like my paycheck had that company name on it. im pretty positive that HR will find out when they call because I the accounting department will clarify because I think they can get into a legal grey area saying that I was employed by the other company.

Thoughts?

Would it look good if I called the guy I interview with and explained to him the mix up? Could it help if I called and spun it like I’m this super honest guy that doesn’t want to lie at all?
