Accounting/Finance vs Economics for High finance
I'm currently doing a combined econ degree in the hopes of getting into high finance (I am aware of the whole target university scenario). I initially thought that an accounting or finance degree would be much more applicable to my actuall job role in IB etc so I was considering switching courses as whats the point in studying for economics and then spending my free time learning finance and accounting for IB when I could just learn those applications as part of a degree. However after talking to other students they have said that this is not the case for accounting/finance and it is not much more real-world applicable (at least for high finance) than econ, as an accounting and finance degree will still be theoretical.
I find this claim hard to substantiate, so I'm here asking 2nd opinions.
