Always the last analyst copied last on emails -- Any psychological significance to this?

Analyst in a product group at a BB.

Whenever VP's or MD's send my four analyst group emails, I am always the last analyst copied. If someone is referring to all of us by name, I am always last. Maybe I am being a bit insecure, but it kind of makes me think I am the last analyst that they think of which is concerning. I had a great review. My last name starts with an A.

Is there any psychological significance to this or am I just being a pussy?

Do you have issues in your social life? This is a super insecurity....

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

That's what I would guess it is. OP, were you the most recent to join?

Joined a few weeks after the other new analyst but he interned last year. The other two guys are a second and third year. My last name comes first but sometimes they'll mention the other new analyst or the second year guy first. I'm probably overthinking it.

Generally speaking the order of the names will appear in order of seniority (decreasing). If you are the newest, then it seems about right. Someone's name has to be last, right?

Although, I had a dickhead supervisor once, and I use to put his name last on emails to piss him off. He had a complex, so I'm sure it worked.

So, maybe everyone just hates you. That could be it as well.

Psychological significance is that you're likely excessively concerned about it.

Lie back on the couch and tell us about your mother.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

I'm always the last officer to get an email from a senior banker. I actually brought this up once at drinks. His answer was, on the CC line, I cc you last because we just talked about whatever it is he's emailing about so this is more an FYI and it's not really meant for you.
