Am I too late for IB?

I know this question is all over the website and I am sorry to ask it again but I have a few concerns about my situation and would love to hear some thoughts about it.

I am currently a junior at Baruch studying finance after transferring from a local CC. Up until this semester, I did not know what career I wanted to pursue just that I wanted it to be something finance-related. Upon discovering investment banking and realizing that I would like to break into the industry, I realized that I was pretty behind the curve as I had done no networking and likely will not be able to land an internship for Summer '22. My initial thoughts were that I could start to prepare and start networking hard for Summer '23 but I feel that I might be screwed due to my expected graduation time being May/December 2023.

Do you think I have a shot to land something in the Summer of 2023 and then accept a full-time position after the internship ends that fall? Or will the fact that my graduation date is 2023 severely hinder my chances of landing a role. Any advice would go a long way and I thank everyone in advance that takes the time to answer.

I think most people will say no matter how impossible something seems, theres always a chance. Even though you're behind, it doesn't mean you cant start now. Network your ass off. Try to get in contact with small banks near Baruch and maybe do a part-time internship during your semester. I did a 10 week internship during the last semester of my senior year which definitely helped me land a full time job by the time I graduated. Start studying up on the industry now, go through a course on technicals. Email as many people a day as you can. Make sure your LinkedIn is looking solid. Keep your grades up. Just work your ass off. Even if you dont land IB out of undergrad, just get the best job you can and climb the ladder. its never impossible its just a lot of work

Thank you for the reply. I'll definitely look into trying to intern during the semester. In terms of emailing people at banks, what should I be saying? Explaining my situation or just focusing on networking for Summer '23 internships.

I'll give you an example, I went to the University of Miami and around our campus was a bank called First National Bank of South Miami. I got in contact with them just through emailing everyone on their website until someone replied and basically just said : "Hello my name is Blank, a Senior at the University of Miami majoring in Economics. As I approach graduation, I was wondering if First National Bank offers any internship opportunities for students seeking to gain relevant work experience."
Then I got lucky and they replied and brought me on as a Credit Analyst Intern and I helped with underwriting PPP Loans.
Wasn't the most glamours or prestigious internship but it helped me get to where I am now. I friend of mine did something similar with a small private wealth management firm.

Have considered this, I think I will determine whether or not to delay depending on how my networking goes for Summer '23 and if I feel I will have a solid chance to land something or not. Thank you for the reply.
