Any advice as to what college I should attend?

I am graduating high school in a few months and I'm not sure which school would give me the best chance to break into Wall St. SO FAR I've been accepted to UPitt, Miami(OH), ASU, and UofAZ. I should hear from Indiana University, Fordham and FSU within the next week or two. (going for finance major btw)

Let's just say I get into each school I listed, any idea which would have the best business program and networking opportunities? From what I've read on the IB forum here and on US News IU's Kelley does pretty well for itself and it seems as though that's my best option. Thanks in advance for any advice/insight.

When did people become so soft? This is real.

I agree but I was originally planning on enlisting into the Marines, I just put myself in a shit position by not knowing what I wanted to do until recently.

Yeah dude. Be realistic. If you're depending on school to do it for you, sounds like you're in a bad position. That's just not the way the world works, unless there's something in your background that sticks out, like your own world experiences and station, it's not going to happen. Obviously, you can get lucky and connect with that one MD who gives you a shot. But realistically, it's unlikely. There's always the MBA route. Just be prepared for a ride if you don't go to a target, don't have interesting experiences like traveling, or come from a poor/working class family. Also, your ONLY shot at any of those schools is to get a GPA north of 3.9 and even then, you will need to be prepared to get grilled hard.

Something else I have learned, these guys like to have a junior who amuses them. That's why I think it's important to consider your station in life. Unless you're literally a genuis, being smart just doesn't cut it, except when you go to a target. At non-targets, it's better to have more well-rounded experiences that make people smile because they realize they can use your differences or connect with your similarities. Trust. There are plenty of plain old smart people at Harvard that they can hire. Be an interesting goofball.

  1. Indiana
  2. Fordham
  3. Miami (OH)
  4. Pitt

For what it's worth the ONLY reason that ASU or UofAZ would give you any remote chance of breaking into Wall St (based on school) is because of how large they are. That meaning - you may find a few alumni who are currently on the street. FSU is in the same boat but all 3 are considered pretty low-tier schools.

I've narrowed it down to UAz and Miami(OH). I have to make my decision by Monday, May 1. I do plan on transferring after my first year since these schools are not targets whatsoever. In terms of a network, based on it's size, Arizona is a better option in that sense; however, I've seen a lot of negative feedback on its finance program. So, in terms of the finance program which school would be a better option for me to transfer into a target school?

Go to Indiana if you could or Miami. I know plenty of people that made it to IB through Miami. It is a very well respected business school with alumni who will really help. Like always, it is not as easy as a target but you have a good chance if you get a good GPA, get in their investment banking program, get involved and network and it is very possible. You are completely fine

Yes I've heard pretty good things about Miami's business school, contrary to what I have heard about Arizona's. I just figured U of AZ would give me more opportunities since it is much larger school. Just looking for as much info as I can at this point, thanks

I see why you would think that but that isn't entirely true. Maybe when it comes to schools more up north but I don't think Arizona has a very large presence. Miami is very solid I would take that. If you get into Indiana that is awesome. Check out their IB club. Consistent placement at BB and top MM firms and they have like over 60 kids so if you do well in school then you are in a great position to do what these idiots say is impossible.
