Any advice for a Canadian?

Hi everyone,

Like a lot of people, I am interested in getting into Investment Banking. I am one of those who are doing the career change thing. Some background: 23 years old, from Canada (Toronto), zero banking experience. I completed my undergraduate degree at McGill University in Microbiology and Immunology (Bsc). I have realized that neither lab research nor medicine is the path for me.

Wrote the GMAT a while ago and applied to some schools, all in Canada. I have been accepted into the following MBA programs: Ivey, Rotman, Schulich, Queens, and Desautels.

IB is what I ideally would like to break into. I have been doing research and talking to people and keep hearing mix things regarding each of these schools and IB. Is it true that Ivey opens more doors to the IB world than say, Schulich or Queens? Schulich seems to be consistently ranked high, but peers have told me that Schulich would not provide as many opportunities as Ivey would for IB. Can someone comment on these schools and whether or not one provides more of an advantage than another for breaking into IB? Maybe it doesn't even matter? Again, I have zero banking experience at this point; no internships, nothing.

I am hoping someone can help me out or provide some advice or point me into a better direction. I am sure you guys are sick of these posts but any input into this would be greatly appreciated. Also, if this is posted in the wrong section, please let me know!

Thanks,

Choose between Ivey and Rotman for IB. In your case I would actually recommend Rotman since it is a 2 year program and you need a finance internship during the summer in order to be competitive for FT.

I second this, Rotman and Ivey are the best MBA schools but Rotman may have you an edge since its in Toronto and you could do internships as well.
