Applying for a BB summer internship, should I include or leave out the fact I'm gay?

Hi,

Title says it all.

I've heard that this can sometimes help your application, but at the same time, I don't know if I really want to include it.

Should I?

Thanks,

Andy

I wouldn't directly include it on your resume or anything, but apply to the diversity internships which correspond to that. you should be eligible for a GS program, if you do a search there is a good list of programs for each kind of diversity

apply to diversity programs or tick the box on your application, no need to shove your bigotry in a bankers face

The jobs of a resume is to make myself as attractive as possible to the firm I'm applying to, if that firm is trying to increase diversity, I become instantly more attractive. So, is it really that moronic?

And no, I wouldn't make it explicit; I'd imply it. After all, It's a big part of who I am, just like how someone might list their hobbies on their resume.

People generally don't list "sex" in the interests section of their resume.

I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young, they bring you up to do like your daddy done

See your point there but wouldn't literally write gay next to the name, LGBTQ social participation could be something to point implicitly that you are gay on your resume.

You could hint that you are gay through your activities (ex. being involved in a LGBT club) or express it through your cover letter. I wouldn't straight up write that you are homosexual on your resume, I don't even know where you would write that.

Yes - if you’re gay and go to a non-target it will help immensely. Most of the people that come from non-targets are gay, but they are closeted. So you will be a large step ahead in that regard

Fuckin my way thru nyc one chick at a time
