Banking Analyst relocating to LA-looking for another roomie to split a 2 bed

Hi again all,

Thought I would give this another try. Currently relocating to LA and staying with a family friend until I can find a roomie to split a 2 bed apt with.

Will be working at a bank downtown on a levfin/strucutred finance team and looking for another finance bro to live with. Open to any area thats nice, has a decent commute.

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some tips and insights for finding a roommate and a suitable apartment in Los Angeles:

  1. Preferred Areas:

    • Santa Monica (SM): Popular but can be pricey.
    • Downtown LA (DTLA): Convenient for your work location.
    • Brentwood: High cost, but desirable.
    • East LA: New builds and more affordable options.
  2. Commute Considerations:

    • Traffic in LA can be a significant factor, so consider areas with good public transport links or manageable driving distances to downtown.
  3. Budgeting:

    • Be prepared for high rental costs. For example, homes in areas like Manhattan Beach or Brentwood can be extremely expensive, with average home prices around $2.2M to $2.4M.
  4. Finding a Roommate:

    • Utilize forums like Wall Street Oasis to connect with potential roommates.
    • Clearly state your budget, preferred areas, and any other preferences to find a compatible roommate.
  5. General Advice:

    • Don't rush into signing a lease. Take your time to find a good deal.
    • Consider flatshares to reduce costs. Studios can be expensive and not always the best value for money.
