Barclays SF vs Rothschild LA (Tech)

Have offers from both. Which should I take? I don't know if I want to be in IB forever and that is the truth. Which would you take? I see myself leaving after the 2-year stint. Please help!

Barclays tech got decimated. Tons of MDs got poached and went to UBS. Both will still be great experiences on your resume, but who knows if whoever they bring in to replace the leaving seniors will be any good.

Also, LA >>>> SF. Take it from a Cali native haha

Rothschild, not doubt about it. Not that they are strong but Barc is toxic right now.

Heard from a friend that all the gud MDs have left, not withstanding the market, can expect zero M&A deal flow for the next 2 years. Even if they manage to hire new folks, takes a long time to build decent M&A pipe. With credit markets where they are, no lev fin or IPO activity either. So most likely you will not be doing anything. There is so much uncertainty at Barc right now juniors are running internal bets on who’s staying vs leaving, LOL

Current head of a group was practically a mentor to me and is not answering any emails rn.
Among news of Barc scaling back its investment banking business and radio silence, lot of issues coming at Barclays for sure. I don’t know firsthand but have seen this happen at a diff bank before and it didn’t turn out well.

Would not recommend Barclays if you have other comparable options rn.
