BB Asset management jobs

I'm just curious what kind of background is usually needed for an asset management position at Bulge Bracket ? A top-tier MBA or CFA or a MSF perhaps ? I'm a recent Finance master degree graduate (EE undergrad)from university of san francisco, what's the chance of my landing a job in sell-side Ibanks ? I know their IBD generally take kids right out of top-tier MBA programs, what about the requirements for the AM department ? Is it gonna be any different from IBD ?

Also is it possible to land a job in any BB AM after working in buy-side mutual fund for 4-5 years with a decent track of performance ? I only want to ask this in case i'm to be rejected by the sell-side right out of school for not coming from top MBA. Thanks.

AM in sell-side? im guessing you mean AM (which is always buy-side) at an investment bank? Just network. Classes are smaller, so it is competitive.

Monkey - not sure, but i'm pretty sure it is about a 55-65k base (right now) with a 10-15k bonus for first year. 60 hourish + weeks.
