Best Interview Stories

In the middle of waiting for comments to be turned, so I thought I'd post the crazy FT interview story I've experienced. Undergrad senior from a non-target with boutique SA experience. I applied to every MM bank in town and hoped they didn't hand out offers to all their interns. Nailed the first round from a MM and got invited to a superday the next week.

The superday was really 2 superdays. First started off with a 2 hour technical test (not too hard), then went on to have a happy hour with senior bankers. After getting drunk in the conference room, all the candidates went to dinner with senior bankers. Analysts came along and made sure your wine glass was never empty and tried to get you to tell crazy college stories. I proceeded to get roaring drunk for the second time that day. Thought the night was over, but the MDs invited us out to drinks at a nearby bar. BAD IDEA, got drunk a third time. When we got there, we all got carded and I whipped out the fake. The nearby MD said "wow, that was ballsy." The senior bankers played drinking games with all of us. Ended up puking 3 times in the bathroom after taking 8 tequila shots with various senior bankers. One of the analysts came along for the ride, got too drunk and walked home, and GOT HIT BY A CAR on his way back. All candidates stayed till 2:30 am with the other senior bankers.

On the second part of the superday, we started bright and early at 7 am. I was massively hungover, along with all the other candidates. The day consisted of 4 hardo technical interviews which were fine-I memorized the 400 questions the weekend before. I got a lot of remarks that I was the "best put together candidate after closing down the bar." Thought that was the best compliment I've ever received. Rest of the day were grueling fit/behavioral questions until 5 pm with an hour lunch in between. A total of 20+ hours for the "superday" interview.

Thought the process was over and I'd find out the next few days. They called back and asked for ANOTHER INTERVIEW. Thought they knew me better than my girlfriend did after all those interviews I went through before. Final interview was a 2 hour case study analyzing comps and "drafting" a teaser. A "short" 2 hour long interview followed with a few more MDs. Thought I nailed those interviews too. Got a call the next day that I didn't get it. All that work for NOTHING
