Try for MF if you have an interest. Also look into firms like Platinum, Audax, HIG, KPS, Centerbridge, and York. Lesser known but reputable shops: Gamut, Stellex, New Water, Centre Lane, and many more. 

 

Was Curious how exactly does on cycle work? Is most of the exit ops just based on pure precedence? A lot of rx analysts at my firm do a2a, and most MF PE/SS exits are women... 

 

Only incoming so take my thoughts with a grain of salt, but after speaking with multiple people at distressed/SS funds it seems like its more typical to spend over two years in banking if you're in restructuring, then switch over to buyside. Of course  two years is still the norm, but I've spoken to a good amount of Associates and third year analysts switching to buyside.
