Cell Phones - Best Coverage in NYC?
So, I have a two-year Verizon contract that has just expired, and I'm trying to decide whether I want to stick with Verizon when I start FT in New York or switch to another carrier, say, AT&T. (I've searched the forums already regarding transferring my phone number to my company BB and have decided to stick with two phones, so no need to rehash that issue, unless you have any major objections.)
Assuming that I default to Verizon, though, what are the top phones that you'd suggest? It seems like the LG EnV 3 seems to be pretty highly rated. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
If you switch, to AT&T, you can always go with the IPhone - I know a bunch of guys I work with that have the IPhone/Blackberry, personal/work combo and love it.

stay on verizon and get the blackberry tour, like the bold but smaller. coming out in mid july
I like to keep my personal and work lives separate, so I have a Verizon BB Curve for personal use. I would check out http://www.mobileburn.com/ and read some phone reviews. I had a LG Chocolate before upgrading to a BB in Jan. IMO, Verizon has the best overall coverage. Don't even think about T-Mobile or Sprint. Can't speak to AT&T.
never had an issue in NYC with AT&T except at the big train stations (Grand Central, Penn). Agree with BankonBanking; most like Iphone/Blackberry for personal/work.
if you have a phone for personal/work, do you just get data for the work phone, and both voice/data for personal?
In a lot of BBs, including the one that I work for, usually you would have just data on the work BBerry, and phone/data on the regular phone - this way the combined bill is usually under the cap, and you can be reimbursed for both. Again, different situations always apply, but a lot of guys I know play it off this way, and it works well for them. Disclaimer: I have a single phone for both data and personel - the only downside is no text messaging because it is classified as a corporate phone (although I owned it before starting).

Thanks for the input, guys.
So it seems that the iPhone is the default choice for AT&T customers. What about for Verizon? What's popular and highly-rated these days?
I'm making it up as I go along.
The network among the major carriers in NYC are relatively similar. There may be places where one network excels more than another, and everyone on Verizon will tell you their network is the best mostly because of the ads.
I think the phone itself will be a better differentiating factor. Lots of noise around the iPhone 3G S, but don't forget to check out some other cool phones like the Palm Pre (Sprint) or a new Google Android phone coming out to T-Mobile.
My carrier decision two years ago - which carrier had the KRZR in the color that my sister wanted (on a family plan)
