CFA importance to get into IB

So here’s the situation I am currently in my last year of college and I am majoring in finance. I want to get into IB but I’m not going to a target school and dont have connections in the industry. The only thing I have going for me is I’m a part time teller at a bank and was going to use my managers as leverage to get connections to someone in IB. However, I was looking into the CFA and was curious if it would give me a better opportunity to get noticed. Also would it be better if I took the level 1 in December and had it before I graduated or should I play it safer and just go for the June test. I have a good amount of time that I could commit to the studying and the registration closes in a few days for December.
