CFA lvl 1 study partner
I’m currently an A1 at one of the top investment banks in Poland. A few weeks ago, I started preparing for the CFA lvl 1 exam, which I plan to take in August. I’m looking for a study partner to help stay motivated, exchange insights, learn together etc
For those who have already passed the exam – what’s the best order to approach the material? I started with Quants, and it doesn’t seem too difficult (most of the topics were already covered at university), so I’m wondering if it’s worth spending much time on this section.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, here’s a recommended approach for tackling CFA Level 1 material:
Start with Ethics: Ethics is a significant portion of the exam and can be tricky. Familiarize yourself with the CFA Institute's Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct early on, as it will also help you in Levels 2 and 3.
Focus on FRA (Financial Reporting and Analysis): This is one of the most heavily weighted sections and can be challenging. Dedicate ample time to mastering this area.
Tackle Quants Early: Since you’ve already started with Quants and find it manageable, it’s fine to move through it quickly. However, ensure you’re solid on key topics like time value of money, probability, and statistics, as they form the foundation for other sections.
Move to Equity and Fixed Income: These are high-weighted sections and critical for understanding valuation and investment concepts.
Portfolio Management: This section is relatively smaller but important for understanding the basics of portfolio theory and optimization.
Economics: Cover this after the core sections. It’s less weighted but still important to grasp the fundamentals.
Derivatives and Alternative Investments: These sections are smaller but can be tricky. Focus on understanding the concepts rather than memorizing.
Review and Practice: Use practice tests and mock exams to identify weak areas. The Schweser practice tests are highly recommended, and CFAI’s website offers mock questions that are invaluable.
Lastly, flashcards for formulas and key concepts can be a great tool for quick reviews during downtime. If you’re looking for a study partner, consider joining CFA-focused forums or local CFA societies in Poland to connect with others preparing for the exam. Good luck!

Are you girl? We can hold hands if so.
If you already work in finance, and I assume you've made it to that seat on your own merit, not sure level 1 is onerous enough that you'll need a study partner. You should breeze by it well under the prescribed 300 hours. Level 2 on the other hand....
