Citi CB (Commercial Banking) ICG Group SA Offer 2022

Good evening WSO,

This will be my first post as I have been lurking on here for months. I first want to start by saying thank you to everyone in here as I cannot believe how much I have learned about IB, banking, and high finance in general just from everyone on this forum. I know for a fact I could not have even gotten my CB SA offer without this forum so thank you to everyone on here.

I want to get a few things cleared up for myself as I feel like the lines are a little blurred between these differences and I would really appreciate any guidance from anyone who might be knowledgeable in this area.

I just accepted an SA offer from Citi under the Commercial Banking umbrella for 2022 in Citi's ICG group. The prorated salary is $95k (10 weeks) which honestly seems way higher than I thought it would be. My first question mainly stems around the difference between Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking at Citi as based off of my research on this forum, LinkedIn, Citi's website, etc. most of the Corporate Banking/Investment Banking groups are under the ICG umbrella, and in the JD of all of them ICG is mentioned. However, in my JD for Commercial Banking ICG is not mentioned anywhere, which is why it lead me to believe that I might be associated with Corporate Banking somehow (please correct me if I'm wrong). Second, I was wondering what the recommendations would be if I wanted to pursue IB and how the exit opps/lateral would look like from this down the road if I decided to accept a FT role. I am younger than most of my peers by a couple years so I also have the ability to make this internship my Sophomore internship that could be leveraged into something else for next summer (2023), which obviously I would consider to be relatively risky comparatively speaking (non target) as I am probably better off locking in the FT offer and going from there.

I would really appreciate any feedback/thoughts on these questions that you guys might have! Thanks.
