Corporate banking compensation for analysts

I am interested in learning about corporate banking compensation for analysts. What is the typical base salary and bonus at large groups like jpm, bofa etc?

How does this change at the associate and vice president positions?

It’s a cushy gig from my experience

Base salary is 105k with 50k bonus working usually 8:30 - 6:30. No weekend work. People are nice and super flexible. Lots of PTO, haven’t worked past midnight, never been yelled at, group encourages people to take their vacation days.

The work is kind of boring though. A lot of administrative tasks.

Currently at JPM/BofA/Citi - don’t know the exact comp number for analysts but from what I’ve heard it’s similar to yours - not entirely sure. Hours are higher though, prob doing 9 to 9 with some late-nighters during live deals. Still, little to no weekend work.

Ehh I think it’s boring tbh long term no way I would want to stay in CB. Pay is decent all things considered but Im trying to make a move to IB coverage. The work is just a little too dry for me personally.

It’s a career gig where you can pull 350k or so over the long term working 9-5. Juniors are way overpaid for the intensity and hours worked with 100k base and 20-50k bonus. there are some days you’ll have no real work if not on a live deal, just known tasks with known deadlines and other days where you might work till midnight or 1 on a live deal. It’s a solid place to start a career then try to jump to investment banking or MBA

How about at other corporate banking groups? Is that standardized across all groups?

At large euro balance sheet bank based in the US

An1-3 : 100-110 (max bonus UP to 50%)
Assoc: 125-150
VP: 175-225
MD: 240+

Work pretty much to 7 everyday, can honestly finish at 6 but just hang out that last hour. Very rare weekend work unless live deal. Lot of admin work, which is boring as fuck but whatever. Like others im trying to lateral, me personally to DCM as I’ve heard WLB is similar with better pay and more interesting work imo.

If wlb is extremely important to you (which to me it is) CB is an excellent gig/career path. Lot of bullshit boring shit at junior levels, but honestly the MDs command a lot of respect at my bank bc they essentially own and run the broader relationship.

Happy to answer any questions

Yea same. Seems like everyone I know is trying to lateral into IB, which mostly means coverage or M&A/levfin.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t give a fuck or has no interest in IB, and the hours I read about on here totoslyl turn me off to the prospect of attempting to later. Cognizant DCM is IB but as mentioned Wlb is better and it’s more capital markets focused

An1 at Bofa/Citi/JPM

Base:

$110k An1, $125k An2, $135k An3

$175k Aso1+, $200k Aso3+

225k VP unsure above that

Last year highest An1 had a $75k bonus bottom was $35k (granted this year is gonna be shit)

Work in a sweatier group but bonus reflects it according to team members

Directors & MDs are heavily respected as they control the relationship and intro IB to the client. ASO to VP is toughest gig imo but as an analyst I have had some great projects on the desk for 8 months.

Sorry didn't see these replies. CB assists on live deals if a company is refinancing its revolver on top of a bonds issuance or loans etc etc. So we will be on the capital approval process and helping out with different processes. Our day to day work is very different if we are on versus off of a "live deal". We are kind of the manager (at the senior level) of the client and keep those core relationships. We try to loop IB in on meetings when we think there are strategic opportunities.

Tryna keep anonymity but those 3 listed above have pretty cushy comp for CB. Teams do a lot of work but it really does vary at my firm.
