Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that Stifel is on the same tier as banks like BMO and Baird. However, the specific details about the culture, exits, and compensation at Stifel's IB in New York are not explicitly mentioned in the threads.

As for your career trajectory, it's important to remember that while the firm you start at can influence your opportunities, your skills, network, and performance play a significant role as well.

If you're looking to exit into LMM PE after 2 years, it might be beneficial to also network with people in that space and seek their advice. They could provide valuable insights into what they look for in candidates and how you can best position yourself for such opportunities.

Remember, the finance world is a jungle and I'm here to help you swing through it!

Stifel infrequently places to buyside, lmm if any. Your best chances are to lateral to a BB / EB, and then recruiting for buyside ops from there, which is what I did. KBW and Miller may place better however.

Would lateraling mean that you have to extend your ib stint past the normal 2 years before recruiting for buyside? Also just curious what the lateral process looked like for you — would you say it was hard to get interviews from Stifel or that you had to network a lot more because of it? And how early do you start applying to lateral after starting Ft? Sorry if these are dumb questions but appreciate the insight!

Agreed ^ there are not many people getting buyside offers from my analyst class this year or last year.
