Hi all,
I was lucky to score a SA role for next summer (not bragging, just context) and was wondering what advice you guys have on laptops. Do you need a PC laptop on the job or did you guys who just wrapped up your SA stint find that you got everything done in the office?
I currently have a MacBook Pro that I love and was wondering if I should also save up to purchase a PC laptop for next summer so I can do more work away from the office (MacBook is shit for Excel and PowerPoint). Any thoughts on if this would be necessary or even worthwhile to look into?
Off topic, but how is your MacBook when looking through Yahoo finance at financial statements? Mine is super slow and often keeps reloading and says that I should close the site for my MacBook to perform better lol. I can pull out my $200 HP laptop and it flys through Yahoo! Finance.
Yeah, I've got the same issue here. Especially with Yahoo Finance. No idea why... You think buying a PC to use in the summer would be worth it? Would I have any need for it in a SA role?
Same for me as well, i have good specs and performance is fine for literally anything else including think or swim, bloomberg, cnbc etc. I bought a think pad for this upcoming semester just to get used to the PC controls and using office in preparation for 2020 summer internship
Can't you take your office thinkpad or whatever your firm is using when you need to work out of the office?
Oh, so are you given a PC laptop to use as a SA (obviously borrow for the summer) ? I just assumed you use a desktop in the office.
I don’t know how other banks do it, but at my banking internship last summer I received a thinkpad laptop to use
Not sure which bank you are at but I was at a BB this summer and both S&T and IB interns got laptops for the summer. And yes, you take the laptop home and could do some work there. However, people usually just go to the office and clock-in those hours.
I have a macbook pro as well and used both at times (from home). The PCs that we got were very slow.
Most banks give their interns a laptop for the summer to do work remotely
