Do you think its beneficial for companies to hire people due to connections?

I don't really have much to say in this body of text but theres an 100 word limit. I'm just curious due to a lot of friends of mine getting jobs due to connections. Do banks do this a lot?

BBs have restriction on connections because of a period of rampant nepotism in Asia. Some do, some don't. Regardless, to answer the main questions; Yes, but it depends. Connections are fine because jobs are hard to get and some selection criteria can seem strange so if connections help a smart person land a job, I'm fine with that. It's when connections help idiots land jobs (and as an Italian, I can tell you that back home this is a BIG issue in all sectors, not just banks) then it's an issue.
