Don't you thnk WSO overestimates the salary averages in IB?
Where do they get these stats from? Because according to a bunch of MBA placement reports, the starting base salary for first year associate is 125K and the bonus is 40-50K which makes the total comp 165K-175K. While the WSO industry report is saying that the total comp of 1st year associate is 220K. Where did they come up with that? I know these MBA stats are just averages and there may be outliers but so are WSO's. So what am I missing?
The $40k - $50k bonus is a stub (i.e. for the first 6 months of work), not a full year
Oh yeah! Totally forgot that but they don't mention that anywhere in the reports. Anyway thanks for letting me pick your brain.
Are you asking because you regret going into consulting?
No. I'm actually going to transition to PE and I just randomly checked the industry trends on WSO. Looks like they've overstated them across all areas of high finance.
.
Average BB 1st year associate (the first full year of working): 150K base + 80k-140k bonus. EB can be 25k - 50k higher
