EB Rx 1R Phone Interview

TLDR;

Got invited for a 1R phone interview with an EB investment bank. Role is for restructuring and tbh I have no idea how I got this interview. Have intern experience for HF and PE, but not on deal/investment teams. Strong with IB technicals, but clueless for any RX. Come from a family of lawyers and have experience with Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Any tips for the phone interview? Have some time - I can schedule it for next week (got it yesterday). Should I schedule it next week and study my ass off for the next several days or will I be fine on the initial call?

Not american but I'd schedule it as late as you can without looking bad and really study up - RX groups like to put RX-related twists on questions and even if it's not technical you'll want to come across as interested in the field.

Thanks. Availability extends through the 16th. I am in-person Tues, Wed, Thurs with everyone coming in on Wednesdays. How should I go about sending over my availability and picking dates? Thinking maybe do Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday as options as to not just pick the last 2 days for an interview.

Come from a similar spot - did a summer internship in M&A and got a lateral interview for a EB RX. Studied my ass off for a week and got another round.

Honestly, if you're coming from a non-RX background like myself, make sure you have your story crafted on why RX, RX Industry Trend, RX Deal, Why that bank. They'll definitely ask you technicals but could be a bit more soft on you if you demonstrate interest / willingness to learn first

No, mine is later in the week, just wanted to add. I’m still lost on whether it’s an actual interview because I’ve just been networking, and out of the blue, one of the senior Ds replied and asked me to send some availabilities to talk for next week, and that’s about it.

But when I checked with others in the industry or friends, they all seem to think this is the first round phone screen. So, not sure, just wanted to be upfront. But happy to connect if you still want to

Nothing yet. Only see their SF office open for current applications. Guessing that the other roles are filled/capped
