Evercore Investment Banking Analyst Real Estate

Hi Guys,

Expecting an offer from Evercore's RESA team and was seeking advice.

1. Does anyone have any advice on how pigeonholed into the real estate sector it will make me? I.e., only exits being REPE and RE acquisitions or whether there's the chance to transition into other IB groups or exit into traditional PE (but asset based MM firms with a decent underlying real estate focus - my end goal).

2. Furthermore, does anyone by any chance know much about Evercore's RESA team? Deals seem pretty interesting / complex and they seem to be the best shop for REIB.

Would really appreciate any advice and thanks in advance.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights:

  1. Pigeonholing into the Real Estate Sector:

    • Real Estate Focus: Working in Evercore's RESA team will likely provide you with a strong foundation in real estate investment banking. This can lead to exits primarily in REPE (Real Estate Private Equity) and RE acquisitions.
    • Transition Opportunities: While the skills you gain are specialized, transitioning into other IB groups or traditional PE is possible, especially if the firms have a significant real estate focus. However, moving to non-real estate focused PE might be more challenging due to the specialized nature of your experience.
  2. Evercore's RESA Team:

    • Reputation and Deals: Evercore's RESA team is known for handling interesting and complex deals, making it one of the top shops for Real Estate Investment Banking (REIB). This experience can be highly valuable and respected within the industry.
