Everything Rothschild London

Hi all!

Curious to learn more about Rothschild London.

Joined the team very recently as an Analyst and know the comp is 70 for An1 and 80 for An2. Does it go to 90 for An3?

What about bonuses? Know these are usually eqv. to Tesco meal deal vouchers but more precise numbers would be greatly appreciated please!

What does the promotion cycle look like? I.e. when are Analyst promotions during the year and when does An -> Aso happen? What is Aso comp looking like these days? On the topic of promotions, is it possible to be fast-tracked?

Does the firm do off-sites or annual corporate events? Know that Moelis does a yearly ski trip for the London office (VP told me when I was interviewing) so that would be nice if something similar happens at Roths, albeit they are much bigger in London than Moe.

Any insights into other related topics would be much appreciated, if possible - know others may have similar questions and there is limited materials on the site from what I looked over!

Thank you!

£70k* base. London and it’s market aren’t perfect, but I’ll take it over the authoritarian dystopia of the USA any day of the week

Controversial

London is an actual shithole. On top of that, nothing more authoritarian than sending your citizens to jail for Facebook comments lmao.

I should think executing citizens and prosecuting law firms might be slightly more concerning, and frankly that’s the tip of the iceberg.

I suppose I can only pity you for the chronic ignorance you so clearly suffer from. I’m sure you will reply with some sort of diatribe, which I won’t dignify with a response.

You should try actually visiting London some time. It might be a bit of a culture shock though - our elected leader isn’t even a pedophile.

Tax is not too far off tho since they have to pay for income + federal + city taxes which bring down to $6.5k (£4.7k)/month which is basically the same as post-tax salary of £80k/year in the UK

Interesting, I thought MDs made careers through focusing on the details? Figures below suggest you are wrong. Even allowing for a margin of error, the claim 'Ldn juniors live a whole lot better from a financial perspective' is incorrect. That's before you factor in the rise in crime, rising social welfare state, failing public infrastructure etc.

My juniors may not be as poor as you

was an analyst 5+ years ago at a non-london office, so can't answer most of these but was very close to a few of the london analysts while we were training and I would be very surprised if things have changed for these:

promotion cycle: analyst bonuses are in the summer (end of june?), analyst -> associate happens end of march around the same time the other promotions happen (to vp, to d, to md, etc.). I had never heard of a fast-tracked analyst -> associate promotion happen at the time, ever, but have heard of one associate -> vp taking only two years (although wouldn't count on it, it surprised everyone when it happened)

off-sites: I know annual trips in london are done by group - consumer does an annual ski trip for sure, not sure by others
