So I completed a 6 week internship this summer in an M&A team within the corporate finance division of an accountancy firm.
I worked on pitches, some information memorandums, researching on the sell side and targets in some specific industries.
In my CV I've added what I did (the above)... On Cover Letters I'm typically taking the 'I now know from this short stint that this is what I want to do..' kind of paragraph as opposed to going into detail on the work I did.
Do you think this is the right approach? I'm going into my second year, non-target and going for IBD in London.
Thank you - I'm unsure which way to go down in the cover letter that will be most appealing to the recruiters.
You want to show how that experience was relevant and how it can be applied to IBD.
Whereas the resume is the "what", the cover letter can be the "why" and the "how".
E.G.: "This past summer, as an intern in XYZ, I did A, assisted with B, and performed C on a daily basis, experiences from which I gained skills that would be directly applicable to a position at your firm." Or something like that.
According to M&I nobody gives a fuck about your Cover Letter.
