yeah, we have a genius here.

Actually I take that back, we got a moron and a liar here.

Show me once where I said that I want to get into IB for the money or for the prestige. 1 post is all I ask ...shouldn't be hard right? I have like 780 for you to choose from.

And I do know what the process entails...and because of that I know that I'm more or less fucked at this point.

No I don't think that I can apply online and get, I hope for that, but I know that chances are miniscule, and that the chance of me even getting an interview are less than 10%.

The process of giving up wasn't slow, look at some of my first posts on this board, I knew starting out that the chances are slim to none,.

So let me ask you this...who the fuck are you to criticize me?

no, I didn't give up shit, but its not a good idea to have all your eggs in 1 basket. By January when I find out 100% that I didn't get into IB, all the interviews for all the good jobs will be over...it doesn't hurt to have a good safety.

My current IB stats are as follows: applied to 57 firms So far got 8 rejections, but so far its top of the line firms so not surprising. Still have 48 firms left.

I'm more commenting on what happens a lot. They also say "so many people apply to IB". But at least half of them don't have what it takes, be it grades, finance background, persistence, ect.

I'm not saying you are totally lacking the qualities (you certainly are persistent). However, you just make a lot of comments that make it sound like you built IB into some kind of fantasy but you really don

what exactly does criticizing aspiring monkey accomplish? all it does is detract from the quality of this board and discourage others from asking questions.

if you really know it all, you obviously don't need to be on this board...

From where I sit, aspiringmonkey's comments on every other comment detracts from the quality. I'm not saying he should stop posting, but he needs to quiet down just a little.

At least Dan Bush, whatever happened to that guy, knew what he was talking about.

sharp From where I sit, aspiringmonkey's comments on every other comment detracts from the quality.

exactly. he is obsessed with piping up and throwing his 2 cents into the ring. it's like when you're talking about something complicated like football plays with someone and your 11-year old brother butts in and says, "Oh, I know about football plays! yadda yadda" and just wastes your time by "contributing" the 2 things he knows about plays when he should've just kept his mouth shut. it's very immature to insist on participating in a conversation when there's really not much you can bring to the table.

I mean, haven't you taken a second to reflect that you submited 57 resumes and got nothing.

You've talked to no one in the field it seems outside of a online msg board, done no networking.

It seems you haven't reflected on how your search has gone and realized "I might not be doing this the right way". If you had, you'd stop making stupid comments on here and start trying to fix stuff. There are always jobs available.

Online apps don't get looked at until the last moment. First the interns get offers, then targets get interviewed, then finally the banks look at the online apps.

Non BBs recruiting season lasts longer. Example a good size boutique. *Columbia Business School - Tuesday, September 26 *University of Pennsylvania - Tuesday, September 26 *New York University - Tuesday, September 26 *Columbia University - Thursday, October 5 *MIT - Friday, October 6 *University of Texas, Austin - Wednesday, October18 *Harvard University - Wednesday, November 1 *All other universities - Friday, October 27

AS you can see the online ap deadline for non-target just came up.

And yes I spoke to people outside of here, and most of them were analysts at BBs so they didn't have a lot of push...+ its not like my credentials are a 3.99 with a relevant intership which would warrant an interview at a BB.

As far as me building up IB into some sort of wonder career, yes that may be true to an extent...but I think thats truth for anyone who ever selected a career they wanted to pursue...Excuse me for not being a typical college student who doesn't know what he wants to do with his life.

As far as me posting less? The 2 things don't correlate, posting/reading takes like 5 minutes...and its a much better way to find information you may not be looking for in the first place.

And as far as me giving up on IB...that is not the case. I did reflect on what the career entails when I started on this path, and IB is for me, so if I don't get in now, I'll get in at the associate level, since I'll know how to build my profile to be a desirable candidate.

P.S. I could care less what you and others think about me, my career aspirations or my chances, I'm doing this for myself, not for other people...so I could give 2 shits about your negative perception of me.

1) Excuse me, why do u want to do i-banking? To save people??? Because it is the most generous profession? Even lawyers are more loveable. Simply put you want to be a middle man that is it; you are not a doctor, a scientist, an engineer.

2) Do you have a clue how the process works? Maybe you can enlighten us. Or better yet, tell me how a BB came to campus and you submitted your resume

are you sure those dates aren't associate recruiting deadlines? columbia doesn't have an undergrad bschool as far as i know.

i dont know, maybe boutiques recruit both at the same time? im not familiar at all with the boutique recruiting schedule.

this whole thread is pointless. there's absolutely no reason to rag on him. i haven't seen him post anything rude/inappropriate, so let him be.

Where did I write that uh? And last time I checked I could speak more languages than you have heard of. And guess what I am not 17, but I suspect you might be.

yeah yeah, I'm a riot :P

but honestly think about it....telling someone to quit is no advice at all + I always knew that if I got into <abbr title="investment banking

">IB, it would probably be a small no name boutique

I never told you to quit. Again, whatever. You aren't listening to anyone if you don't agree with them.

IBOasis has a lot of dumb threads. This is by far the dumbest. I shouldn't be getting involved but I can't help myself.

First, Aspiring Monkey...Props for your persistence on IB. I honestly believe persistence and wanting it badly enough is the biggest reason I got a job. No reason why it won't work out for you. If not now then later. However, if it's not working out then there must be a reason to it and maybe you should try smarter. Get as much face time as possible etc. Having said that, some things you post aren't accurate sometimes and while I understand where you are coming from..it amounts to crap. Also, no one likes the geeky kid in the class who is always ready to pick a fight. To get an IB job, you have to likeable. Heck, any job. No offense meant. Just friendly advice.

Prospie etc..Don't you guys have jobs? Seriously...

tell me something I don't know and I'll listen
