Finance careers

Graduated college from NC State University, started working in Transportation industry out of college. Gained some feedback from colleagues about transportation that don’t align up with what I’m doing now. I Have always been interested in finance, studied finance in college but didn’t feel like I had the right network to break in. Thinking about interviewing for banking jobs with rotational programs, getting an MBA and breaking my way into the industry. Where should I begin to break into the industry to gain good experience? I understand basics of finance including DCF, WACC, intrinsic value, npv , IRR, Rim, DDM. Grades weren’t the best in college with gpa sitting at 2.95 due to a humbling experience in college. I do enjoy learning and believe in working hard for my keep. I have interests in PE, hedge funds, corporate finance, Investment Banking. What’s some good advice?

First piece of advice is to change your username and get rid of your picture on WSO

Well you've dug yourself in a bit of a hole with GPA, school (go wolfpack), and current industry.

I think you best bet would be go get Masters in Finance from Georgetown to get a reputable brand/school and get a more relevant GPA and then parlay that into a T20 MBA. A T20 MBA should be able to get you into IB or Corp fin. Reputable PE and HFs will be almost impossible

With God All things are possible, we'll just see what happens. I'm gonna keep my eyes and ears open for a finance opportunity, take my time applying to the right school and network with the right people. Thanks for the advice minus that jab at the Wolfpack.

I had a 2.9 and work in corporate banking it is possible. Just network and know your stuff as well as keep applying.
