Financial and Strategic Investors at GS
What does this group do? From their website (https://www.goldmansachs.com/what-we-do/investmen…) it seems like they cover a “variety of IB services” but is it more relationship focused or execution focused?
Is it M&A exclusively focused on transactions where at least one of the parties is a financial sponsor, or something else? I’ve heard that there’s almost no modelling involved - more just relationship management with PE firms etc.
This is the group called “Financial Sponsors” at other banks.
No modeling, no deal experience.
Just PE client management.
Juniors just take notes on sponsor check in calls and send them around to coverage teams. They also send pitchbook profiles when we ask for them.
Group is good for senior people, wouldn’t recommend for juniors.
Any idea about the hours/culture given that the work seems to be light?
